What a great day...did absolutely nothing. I sold some CDs ($230 smackeroo's!) and treated myself to lunch at my fav. cheapo restaurant that is like a drug to me, California Chicken Cafe. Went to Aron's Records and bought the new Lucinda, the new Derailers, an Album Leaf split EP, the new White Stripes, a compilation that is a tribute to the movie 2 LANE BLACKTOP and the 2xCD of Stereolab at the BBC. How awesome is that?
Went with a writer to my friend's party at the Brewery downtown post Art Walk. it was cool. Saw friends and stuff. Drank, talked, it was a mellow goo time. Thought it would be odd hanging with a girl who just turned 21 but we had a great time.
Then we hit up the Michael Gira show at Spaceland. Ok....I absolutely did NOT get that ANGELS OF LIGHT music. Just...dull. Obviouly the SWANS fans were out en masse. However the highlight was the opener, this Texas guitar player who sounds like a combination between Bessie Smith and Billy Holiday in the body of Vincent Gallo. Really kinda cool.
