So we're starting week two of the no travel experiment. Actually it's been 11 days already so i guess we're farther along already. It's been interesting. But I must say that I've learned one important thing: I much prefer being on the road and ridiculously busy than I do being home alone with my thoughts.

Not sure if this is a good thing or a...

ladymaze:
I had a good time.

I'm feeling pretty neurotic again today, as I have been for days now.

But I felt pretty good last night. Distracting fun.
ladymaze:
I hope so. 'Cause otherwise, I'm going to have to start breaking stuff.

Song lyrics:

If I could get my mouth
to convince my head
to believe in every word it said,
I wouldn't be so glum.
I could float for a while.

So a time out from my recent existential ponderings to discuss the following:

I find it very interesting that a large number of people who don't know me seem to be quite certain of my intentions and of what I want out of life. Some of these people have spoken to me and may indeed know some of what they believe to be "facts" about...

What I need is to turn off my brain for a while. I'm sick of thinking about all of the various things and issues that constitute my life. I'm beginning to annoy myself with the whining that constitutes my internal monolouge these days.

I know that life is what it is and that it all works out in the end, but it's all a little...

So as part of the "see if I want to 100% change my life" experiment I am not traveling at all the next two weeks. Now I'm in the office and bored. Not sure if the experiment is off to the right start.

If you say so. tongue

I just spent the last five hours sitting on my ass in front of the computer (well, under it, as it is a laptop...), finishing up schoolwork for tomorrow.

Now, I'm waiting for nailpolish to dry so I can go to bed. biggrin

How about you?
ladymaze:
*resists making jokes about drunk lawyers and bar exams*

Hey, man. Just remember what we learned from dear sweet Elora. Even when you don't know where you're going, pick a direction and just keep walking.

East, maybe. smile

And now, goodnight, dear sweet Itburns. Try not to think TOO hard...it fries the noggin. Sleep cools things back down, though. kiss kiss

Today's lessons:
(1) when you go to bed at 5:15 am and get up at 8:00 am you will not be in great shape for golfing with the pretentious clients who flew in from California to golf with you.
(2) when #1 happens you will not care if you had a great time the night before.

So there you have it.

very funny! i might have taken that into consideration, except for the fact that i've trained 3 other people in this office, and everyone else has turned out fine confused

MALAISE.
My life appears perfect on the surface, I should be happy and AOK. But I'm not. This is a tough one. I either have to change everything-and I do mean everything- or just say "screw it" and accept this.
So I'll be working on that.

I won my trial today on directed verdict. That's a fancy way of saying I 100% kicked their ass. It's left me feeling very hallow. Due to recent events in my personal life, I'm not sure how to think about this one. I'll be in Philly until Wednesday morning, then we'll see what's next.

Got a call from girl303 this morning inviting me to the Intonation Music Festival. Other than the omnipresent dust it was just what the Dr. ordered. Death From Above 1979 kicked all kinds of ass.

OK I'm "home" for two days and the qestion forThursday now cmes into sharp relief. The problem is NOT that the Philly Marriott (or allthe Marriotts for that matter), but that my apartment does not feel like home in the least. How does one expect to find a home when one's house isn't home? Answer that and I'll love you forever.

I don't think it's the actual dwelling but the community/city/town in which you live and where the people you feel comforable and love are. Even after I moved out of my parents I called their house home still....now I refer to my house as home and my parents as my parents house. I think a lot of it too has to do with just feeling comfortable/satasfied with your life kiss
trocc:
i've never had to travel with the frequency that you seem to - it must be really unsettling after awhile.

i tend to agree with the folks above, though, that you can find some semblance of 'home' in the people you surround yourself with.

try and have a good weekend, man - i'm going to be doing the same. smile

I'd appreciate answers to these qustions. Extra points will be awarded for responses to #3:

1) Is it good or bad that the Marriott in Philly feels like home?
2) What did I do before the IPod was invented? I can't remember what it was like, it must have sucked.
3) How can one simple and humble man from DFetroit end up with such a...
