Today is the anniversary of the plane crash that brought down one of the greatest rock venues in the history of California. It was the first place the Rolling Stones ever played in North America. Janis, Jimi, and many other greats from the 60s and 70s played there over the years. The Swing Auditorium is greatly missed.

Obviously I'm behind on my SG reading! I shot Hendrix in concert at Swing in June, 1970, just a couple months before he died. It was my 2nd serious job as a young photgrapher... the first was the MC5 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago a few months earlier.
