okay. soooo. someone tried to jack me and antimony's scooters last night. cut both our locks, then beat the crap outta my scooter's front fender trying to break the steering column lock. luckily, the steering lock did not fail, and, trying to steal a 180-pound scooter that's front wheel will only face sharp left is kinda hard, so they left them.
long story short: each of us has a brand fucking new heavy duty $40 lock, i'm getting my fender replaced at cost (another $40) 'cos my motorcycle dealer rocks, and we're going to buy insurance (no idea how much $$$).
what does this mean?

i am offering a very limited number (5) of my custom rings. first come, first serve. yes, yes this does suck for those of you who don't read my journal update the second it is posted. sorry.
depending on how badly making five rings cuts in to my school work time, i may or may not continue to offer them.
price? $40. yup. that sucks too. sorry to all my poor friends - believe me, i feel your pain. so why $40?
current cost of silver per ring = roughly $10
time it takes to make one ring = roughly three hours
three hours' work at "minimum wage" = $18
postage = $4, probably more if not in US
total baseline price = $32
the extra $8 per ring? 'cos i gave myself a raise. this also protects my investment, as the cost of silver fluctuates all the freaking time. when i bought the actual silver i will be using, it cost $15, not $10. if i have to buy more to complete the rings, i don't know if it will cost me $5 or $20.
extra add-on thingers:
fine silver = + $5
different metal entirely = at cost. fyi: gold = $462/oz right now. this is why i strongly favor silver.
fancy font = + $5 (i am hand engraving these things. i am not a laser, as cool as that would be. as such the font will NOT be 100% perfect.)
you get to choose pretty much everything else about the ring. i will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you are envisioning. that said, if you ask for something more difficult than a simple engraved band ring, i might ask more monies. i will not carve your ring into the shape of a dolphin. that's what claire's is for. i will carve your ring into the shape of the word CUNT. that's what i'm good for.
you are responsible for either telling me your proper ring size, or telling me to give you a few days to get yourself measured. i cannot gaurantee i will have time to resize any rings that don't fit because you told me the wrong size. if you are not in the US, figure out your US size.
EMAIL ME IF INTERESTED.
i will edit this post when the first five definite orders are placed.
depending on how far down the list you are, it might take me two days or upwards of a month to complete your ring. i will keep you informed.
i will ask that, upon confirmation that your ring is ordered, you send me $20 to pay for the immediate supplies. upon completion of your ring, i will take a photo of it to let you approve of it, you will then send me the remainder of the cost, and i will ship you a shiny metal thingie.
if i've left anything out of this hugeass post, feel free to email me and ask. it is A-OK to email me a really quick note saying you are definately going to purchase a ring but need more time to think of what you want. it is not okay to email me a quick note saying you want one, then back out later. a comment on this post will not reserve you a ring; only email. this is so i can keep track of who's first, etc.

I'm heartbroken. I wrote to you ages ago about buying a ring, sizes, fonts etc.. (I totally understand though, I used to sell macrame pieces and the business side of it eventually killed my passion for it.) Please keep a lady updated if you decide to do more.
