i retired my nape piercing the other night. it was healed, but the exit holes were always irritated. i had blamed it on my inability to stop touching it when my hands were covered with metal dust, but i'm not so sure now. the bar itself was a completely inappropriate shape for the piercing, forcing the metal to be at an awkward angle. oh well. it had a good two year run. maybe some day i'll get a tattoo that runs up the back of my neck.
in other news: for those of you who don't know, i am the anal-retentive queen of animal care. i HATE it when people abuse or don't take good care of their animals, either out of cruelty, neglect, ignorance, whatever.
in that vein, i am gonna take this opportunity to tell you guys that almost all pet foods sold in grocery stores, walmart, even petsmart are crap, and many of them contain "meat by-products" which is a nicer way of saying road kill and euthanized pets. CATS AND DOGS ARE IN CAT AND DOG FOOD. this is a fact - you can google it. using companion animal meat in pet food is totally legal, and cheaper than quality meats. beyond the disgustingness of it, the chemical used to euthanize the animals does not degrade during processing. trace amounts of it have been found in numerous pet foods. this will not kill your animal outright after one meal, no, but it causes cancer. beyond all of this, cheap foods are mostly indigestible filler. you actually save money by buying the more expensive food, because your animal needs to eat less of it to get the nutrients they need. they also shit less. BUY GOOD FOOD.

my aunt feeds our shar peis science diet sensative stomach (science diet is bad I know...so is Iams...but I didn't know how bad at the time...I thought because it was so much pricier than other dog foods that it must have been the best)
