I am happy that our neighbor Iowa has legalized gay marriage, I do not know anyone who made a conscious decision to be straight or gay. I know I didn't decide to be straight. It just happened automatically like it does for everyone. But I hope in my lifetime that being gay is as offensive as being irish is today. In the 19th century people discriminated against the irish, italians, etc. and it seems so stupid now. Someday our homophobia will seem stupid, and hopefully someday our rascism towards blacks, hispanics, etc. will go away and we can judge people based on themselves and not some physical attribute.
