back to basics.
answer to question one:
i'm a firm believer in a higher power that rules the universe. someone had to write the story that i'm living. it doesn't really matter how you call it; jesus, buddha, yewah...shit thor and harry the thunderer are okay too. see my beef with religion is that it promotes it's self over others. having been brought up in a roman catholic house hold i was always told that god and jesus love you, but sin and to hell you go...
i have a problem with that. everything being evil and foul. even our beautiful perfect god given bodies. all the nautral things in human nature from sex to willingness to rebel is bad. doesn't anyone consider that it might be god's plan to test us to see how well we work with what we're given? this way i went into the eastern (philosophical) religions so whole heartedly. i had an epifany while reading the bahagativa gita. one that showed me that there is beauty within all things and we are what we are. for it is gods plan, our dharma to be what we are. yes it is a hard road to tread, but we must fulfill these role otherwise we never get to go on....to heaven whatever it may be. i'm not gonna get into that right now. but there's my (kinda) answer to question one
2. do you fear the devil
2a. why/ why not

I kinda hope there is one though. I would love an afterlife... Well I think I would... To be able to continue on in a sentient state... that would rule... I hope. If it sucked that would be a big dissapointment and I'd probably have to write a very tersly worded letter of complaint.
As to the Devil... I call it my will power and it can be evil at times.
Shite, I guess it turns out I'm a bit to low-brow to name a favorite classic book. Not that I haven't read a few in my life... I just couldn't call one out as a favorite. I guess I need a hot tea and a good dose of NPR to whip me into shape. ;-)
