Happy FRIDAY, assholes!
Work has proven very gratifying this week. Yesterday, Andrew, a boy in my class, plunked himself down onto my lap for music. We've been in school for nearly 7 months now, and this was the first time he'd ever sat in a teacher's lap. It was so touching, I was ready to cry. This probably sounds like nonsense to most of you, but if you're a mom or you have some understanding of child psychology, you'll understand that that kind of trust and bonding towards a teacher can be a big hurdle for a three-year-old.
Besides work though, everything is kind of messy. I've felt rather displeased with people lately. I don't have much patience for people's bullshit right now. And the bullshit factor has been kind of high recently. Like high school, part 2. *shudder*
Fuck all of it though, really, because tomorrow morning I'm getting on a plane to California. I've never been before. First I'm heading to San Francisco, then a nice part of Oakland, then up to Yosemite for a few days, then back to SF to stay with KAYLA! OMGOGGLEZ!!!!111oneone! I can't explain how excited I am to be 1) getting out of NY, 2) going to Cali and 3) meeting Kayla and her rad boyfriend Gwydion. Oh man. Awesome. Kayla and I have already slept together by association, so there's just no telling what's gonna happen...

(2) While in Oakland, go to Berkeley and:
(a) Visit the Cheese Board in North Berkeley, get pizza for lunch
(b) Go to Berkeley Bowl (a market) and feel jealous; also, eat a lot
(c) Go on a tour of the Scharffen-Berger factory (free!)
(3) Go to Yoshi's in Jack London Square, if you like Jazz (and sushi)
(3) In SF:
(a) Go to SFMoMA & Yerba Buena gardens.
(b) Go to a bar called Noc Noc in the lower Haight. You will love it, I promise.
(c) Drive up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor (just to be impressed)
(d) You MUST go to Pancho Villa taqueria, at 16th and Valencia in the Mission. You have not had Mexican food before, trust me. Also, unbelievably cheap.
(e) Edinburgh Castle in the Tenderloin. Check their calendar first to see who's playing. While there, see the cabers.
Sorry for the long posting. I am a Bay Area advocate, if you can't tell.
