It wasn't too hard thinking of what I felt my alter ego should be. I never liked my real name growing up, it was complicated & always pronounced wrong. I always thought of other names I would rather call myself.

Coming to this community I wanted it to reflect me, the parts of me I wanted to embrace and show the world.

Irie (eye-ree) is a slang word in Jamaica, [sidenote: I'm Jamaican & Puerto Rican ^_^], meaning peace. In JA the word irie is usually used in the phrase "everything irie', basically saying everything is cool, or good. Irie is a state of mind with no worries. I try to live my life in the most positive way possible. Life has a way of throwing shit at us & the only way to stay afloat is to not let the things we can't control, control us.

So my name is not only a little homage to my heritage but also my way of reminding those that meet me to stay positive. Life is too short to stress.

So cheers to staying optimistic & loving/living life to the fullest.
