As promised my thoughts on the new Hives record, and the current thought is... ehhhh, it's ok. I'm really surprised at that, it seems that most of the recent records from the Nordic Tribes Men (The Hellacopters, The Flaming Sideburns, Turbonegro, Gluecifer) have taken time to grow on me and that's what I want to talk about, my Nordic Brothers in Rock.

I have been...

Well, well-first off the pic above retains to a challenge in my journal.....Second-I got the package yesterday and that just rawks man--thank you so much-New Math is fucking great-I can hardly believe these guys did not get more coverage in the day-what a great record-listened to it all day today for about the 5th time through--So was this a label that you and your brother had but folded? or do you still release stuff....IThe other platters are all fucking great as well-Darkest of the hillside thickets are a great band as are the fags....and the other one (the canadian band is my new cruising to work cd) like a hopped up flat duo jets ....so anyhow, thank you so much-I have kept your addy and plan to return the favor real soon.....( a cleric EP ( mr brother-in-laws band and some other goodies) I agree with your assesment of our nordic brothers ( and truth be told I am not real big on the hives--they just do not grab me -maybe I should give it a second chance) as my entry here is growing far to long already I will move this along.....I would say the one band I love now, but could have cared less for when it came out is CLAWHAMMER
saw them live with Mudhoney back in college-solid show so I picked up the (at the time) debut......thought it sucked...low and behold -about 6 years later I played it and was fucking blown away by how ahead of its time it was......I will also say the same thing for the band Skeleton Key-I recommend both of those bands to anyone who likes music.....later chum and thanks again!

The Jetsons

So I got the first season disc one from Netflix, and what the hell happened to us? By us I mean the USA, I mean the western world, we used to dream of the stars and the future, it seems that since the energy crisis of the 1970's, and the big time sell out of the babyboomer generation we have forgotten about these...

I'm with ya, I think the kids are all spoiled brats these days. I hate the instant gratification nature of society, everybody thinks they deserve to have everything handed to them before the thought has finished forming in their head that they know what they want.

The Good Girl

What we have is Mike White (School of Rock) giving a modern take on Catcher in the Rye (which I have never read). Jennifer Aniston attempts to channel Holly Hunter while cheating on her husband whit Donnie Darko who's Texas accent slips from time to time.

haha. i just watched that movie last night (again). i don't know why actually because it's not like it's the best acted or scripted, or creative or anything kind of movie, but i like it anyways.

i particularily like the girl making announcments inside the retail rodeo...

i cant believe i randomly ran into you this evening. smile

I have a hard time dealing with the summer. My body just isn't made to deal with the heat. It gives me headaches, makes me sluggish and tired, and then there is the air conditioning. I must be one to the few people that I have met that has a physical reaction to Air Conditioning. I don't know what it is, the sudden change in...

Hi, Punky got my pass I think. Can't wait to go! YAY!
prs2000:
i think you could still find that optimistic and happy child inside. why did you want to be an archeologist? when did you change your mind on that? or haven't you?

and for the record. i don't think there is such a thing as a "normal kid." everyone has their weirdness about them. and who really can define normal anyways? smile

my favorite school activity when i was 8 years old? hmmm hard to remember really. probably getting out of class to go play with the old mimeograph machine because supposedly i was "too smart" for the regular english and math class. so i got to sit in a room with a bunch of other dorks and do silly quizzes and puzzles and play with the office equipment. smile

as for disney - i love disney, but i don't like what eisner has done to it. the old disney with the classic movies and rides and no sequels (walt would roll over in his grave if he knew about cinderella 2 etc.) i remember going to disneyland and disney world as a kid and being enamored with tomorrowland.

the kinds of ice cream i'd like to pull from the grocer shelves - anything with nuts in it. i don't like nuts in my ice cream. it irritates me to no end when i read a description about an ice cream thats something like "coffee flavored ice cream with loads of fudge, creamy caramel, chocolate bits and hazelnuts." it all is so lovely and then blech. my favorite kind of ice cream is coffee flavored ice cream though. cold stone creamery has a great coffee ice cream which i like to mix oreos and heathbars into. mmmmmm.

i'm going to IKEA today - i can hardly stand the wait!

I don't recall if I have written about Freaks and Geeks yet, but it was such a good show I don't mind repeating my self. First off I grew up in Michigan, I recall the era and the place that the show was set in, even though I was a lot younger than the kids on the show.

The show followed the Weir family, Sam...

I want to go to friends and family day! YAY! I LOVE that place! It will make me feel like I'm back in Burbank. As a side note, I know the building you were in. It is really cool. As for the girls thing, I think you should just date someone else and then the old girl won't bother you so much, or at all. Seriously! In terms of avoiding the SGTC group, WHATEVAH! You should come and try it once. If you hate it and think it's boring, then so be it. Oh and for watching TV because you think people are hot in it - I LOVE Magnum P.I. and watch it every chance I get.
prs2000:
2 please! cool smile i keep seeing the billboards around town and i'm itching to get inside!

as for the strip club - i've never been to one so i can't comment

as for the old girl - i agree with nordicgoddess - just go out and date other people. dwelling on the "what could have been" will only make you miserable. plus it's easy for memories and old emotions to be idealized when reality would really have been a very different thing. so, even if you ever did hook up with the girl that haunts you - it would never live up the ideal of what it is in your head. so... anyhow - don't feel like you have to find a girlfriend right away, just go out and have fun with as many girls as you want!

as for the new girl - work and dating can be weird. but if you really like her, flirt and see if she responds back - and if so, then what the heck, go for it!

as for the SGTC group, you sholudn't worry about feeling like you belong or not. nobody really "belongs" in the SGTC group - it's the craziness of how completely different everyone is that makes it fun. just give it a try - and don't be self-conscious or analytical about it - let your brain take a vacation and just sit back, observe, participate, enjoy! you can't create comedy as good as what naturally comes from a group of crazy twin cities people. and MOST of the SGTC group doesn't bite...

as for pop music. just turn on mtv (and keep it on) for awhile and then every now and then flip the radio to KDWB and you will immediatley know what is up with pop music these days. but even without doing that i can tell you you're not missing much. you could also just paruse the most requested downloads on the itunes store...

as for bad tv with hot people - that's kind of the point of a lot of tv isn't it? smile

Things that I'd love to see on TV, but no one has the guts to produce...

More documentaries about TV, Movies and Music. I'm not talking Behind the Music or the E1 true Hollywood story here, I'm thinking more a program that talks about the entertainment or the art it's self. For example a show that interviews the people involved in front and behind the...

Recent British TV Sitcoms

I like to laugh, and despite projecting a fairly caustic persona I do have a sense of humor, a warped one, but one none the less. I enjoy smart laughs, and social satire laughs, and even unintentional and slightly lame laughs. What I don't find all that funny is humiliation laughs.

I find that most American sit coms have depended on...

Gilmore Girls.

That's right I said it, Gilmore Girls, I dig that show, and it's not about the hot chicks, because really I'm not all that attracted to either of the girls. What I like is that mostly the show if fun, fast, and that it values the same things that I do... Life, wit, brains, pop culture, quirkiness and above all living your own...

I watch the Gillmore girls with my fiance' (JuneCleavage) and her daughter every week...they actually had moved back to her hometown and had to endure being strange in a rich little town....and Samurai Jack kicks ass in my book...hoping the dvd rolls my way for father's day.....yeah, as far as the Von Bondies and all those new wave garage bands --I take it with a grain of salt--I mean really-I am big fan of Billy Childish--but outta the 450 or so releases have they all kicked ass --fuck no-I just get sick of people trashing bands cause the white stripes so not think they are cool ....at least the Von Bondies are not out producing Reba Macentire's next long play.....I have tons of proto-punk/garage/lo-fi rawk maybe we should make a few interesting mixes and swap them out....later brother
