Back to the Music..... (Liz & Jen you might be interested in my last entry)

I was wondering when would be the right time to get to this album, but the recent horror punk threads I started on the music board have been well enough received to prompt this entry into my DID collection of journal entries:

The Forbidden Dimension : Somebody Down there Likes Me

The best album of all time... at least in my book, SDTLM is everything that I love about rock and roll on 1 CD and clocks in around 40 minutes.

This was the 2nd album by The Forbidden Dimension, and the first with a full band. The reason that I love it is that it covers so many styles, tempos are areas of the rock lexicon and it all seems to hold together in a way that I makes sense. From the opening blast of 'Blood Shack' to the fast loud and growling punk of 'Martian Grave Robber' thru the BOC influenced 'Big Black Hearse', into the slower vampire ballad 'Annabel', the horror cowpunk of 'High Midnight' and into my personal favorite track 'Unbidden' the Forbidden Dimension present the perfect picture of their 'little audio comic book' world. The album continues with it's momentum, ripping through instrumentals, rockabilly like numbers and garage punk tunes until it ends...

Track by track the album flows through all of that with out hitting a single snag, there are no throwaway tracks, no half assed ideas, no compromise, just the sound of a band in peak form ripping through it all. Forget the horror trapping, forget the amazing art work that the album is wrapped in, just listen to a group of men screaming at the world, telling stories and pouring out their demons, and at the end you will know who you are... ok that last line is cheesy and I copped it from somewhere else. Solidly produced and created, a new favorite tune each spin, and I never get tired of listening, what more could you want from an album?

notes:

1) Did I mention that art work... hit the link
Tomb

2 ) yes it's out of print, and few people heard it, try e-bay

3) all the other FD albums get a big thumbs up, but this one is the cream of the crop

4) anyone interested in a horror punk group here?

5) I'm out of town until sunday night, say what you will below.
