I just saw Last King of Scotland. I think one of the hardest things to be is menacing. Anyone can be angry or violent or crazy. But it takes special talent to just stand there and stare and still convey what a truly bad idea fucking with you would be. Forrest Whittaker earned that Oscar.
Worst part about the movie was that I couldn't watch it without thinking about Kryptonite's trip to Africa. One more thing to add to the list of bad associations.
I also picked up Alain de Botton's Status Anxiety. I love Alain de Botton. He is the eptiom of the independent scholar. But on a personal level I am also worried that I'm not where I should be by this point in my life. Hopefully there will be some persuasive arguments within that can change my perspective.
