The world was old before you were born. Some young girl told you that yesterday. Why had that never occurred to you, dude? Why was that a revelation from her shiny lips and perfect breasts? The world WAS old before you were born. You like to joke that you're now a trilobite with arms. A thumbprint in some petrified tree. You are still a fairly recent Miscreant, all things considered. Even though you are bald. And have to remove your glasses to see. Even though the young girls don't look at you and Water gives you heartburn. You are still young enough to sing Birthday songs to shiny lips and perfect breasts. Birthday songs to the afternoon sun. The world was impossibly old before you were born. You are and can be HERE...and YOUNG.
