Whew. Last post over a month ago. So, has a lot happened? No, not really. The move (I feel like it should be capitalized) to San Francisco is coming in about 2 weeks. As in, a week from this coming Tuesday. I will be up there for a week, helping Maya move our stuff into our new, tiny apartment, and getting our cats settled (good...

Hopefully you can hear something good back soon from one of the prospects. It never makes sense to me how coworkers will turn their backs on you for trying to move on and better yourself surreal

Why do people do stupid shit?

I have two friends, one of them, let's call him "Bill", just got divorced. His (now) ex-wife claimed post-partum depression for 3 1/2 years after their son was born, and so did nothing around their house, not even watching the kid. Worse still, she would call him and cry and throw tantrums when he went out anywhere with friends....

Happy Birthday man! biggrin

That is really quick and seemingly disastrous to me as well. Perhaps things can work for them though surreal
polkadot:
i think things can still work out for them; you know, lets stay positive and hope for the best ; )
i guess it's all the stupid moves what keep life kind of exiting...still in some cases you should really think before you move.

Exciting news: I got a call back from a fairly large, but interesting company in the Bay Area. They called while I was in a meeting last Friday, and left a message. I called back almost immediately after I left the meeting, and left a message with a specific HR person. I'm still waiting to hear back (again) from her, but it's looking up.

In...

Congrats on the prospect. My coming weekend is pretty much shot like last weekend was. I have a funeral on Saturday to attend.

I'm always good for new books. My library is never large enough wink
tonedefer:
Yeah, that sounds like it's on a downward spiral.

Less-than-exciting update:
I'm thinking of getting another tattoo. A pulp sci-fi rocketship scene, a la "Amazing Stories" from the 50s and 60s. I think retro-futurism is cool.

Oh, and the ex I sometimes muse about getting back in touch with recently got in touch with me. Weird, but maybe not THAT weird...
aldremech:
Might actually be THAT weird surreal

Out of the woodwork again. Jesus Christ, I've been busy. Well, "busy". It's not like I'm all THAT important that I need to jet to Europe or anything.

No, I haven't been in Europe.

I know I complain about it everytime I post, but I'm sick to fucking death of this job hunt. I've been applying since February, and not a single call back. Not...

SGAZ is planning a tubing trip down the Salt River on the 13th. I am planning on making that one, but this weekend might work for beers if I am feeling up to par.
aldremech:
Cool. I'll let you know asap. Saturday will probably work barring any random acts of real life intervening.

Wow. Sorry it's been like 2 months since I've actually been on the face of the earth, but a whole lot has happened. A quick rundown, listy-style as usual:
1) School. Big group project due, eating up a lot more of my time than I'd intended.
2) Linux install went bad, somehow reformatted both of my HDs AND killed my power supply (not exactly sure...

Sup, dude. I have been through a lot lately, too. Job loss....back to school.....loss of unemployment income....scratching for scraps....But I have been staying busy. I have some groups and meetups that I am in, so we go places and do stuff. being able to breath freely everyday is great. And knowing there's family that loves me and needs me keeps me in the level.

Good luck in Frisco. ttyl

In the past 2 weeks, I've dreamt about:
1) Composting. Nothing weird, just composting, which is weird in and of itself.
2) Getting attacked by zombies. I now think the ideal place to take shelter, if I have enough ammo, is the Albertson's across the street. It's high enough that the undead can't get there, and there's food and very few windows. And a hardware...

i just got back from seattle & i'm in love. the prices are actually not as bad as ny & the funnier thing is, it's the first place i've been where everybody i spoke to loves it there. people have a love/hate relationship with ny.

i enjoy people and it's much easier when they come up to you & start talking so that might be encouraging. i'm just such a weirdo otherwise it might be overkill.
aldremech:
I'm going to hole up at the cookie store on Mt. Lemmon when the zombies attack wink

School semester's settling down into a routine again, which is good. I'm a creature of habit, and routines help. A LOT.

I've been playing Left 4 Dead nearly every week since I bought it. That game is so fucking great, but I wish there were more maps.

Is it wrong that I have a little, teensy, tiny crush on Erin from e-surance (y'know, the pink-haired...

i have a crush on her too. they just drew her so damned hip-py (i enjoy hips).

that doesn't make it ok though. tongue

seattle is unconscionably expensive right now. but i heart someone i think. so i might do it.

also i'd like to dye my hair blue. like zoetica used to have hers. do you think that would go with brown?

So, school is back in session. Although, apparently, with even more administrative headaches than last year. See, the UA breaks all classes into 'sections' (the material is the same, but the time and mode of class is different). An online section of one of my courses, which is really just the video-recording of the on-campus lecture, has been been cancelled due to lack of enrollment...

becaaaause, the peoples are afraid of the salaries they'd command without the colleges so they'll just go in hopes that if they tolerate it long enough to get the degree they may actually have a chance at financial happiness. they are sadly mistaken...

Once again, forgive the lack of contact. I hope y'all had a good holiday season.

And, uh, looks like my credit card fraud story is over, so that's exciting.
aldremech:
Took me a year to get past the credit card fraud bastards. Someone sold my account info to someone in Spain. Visa had fun with that one surreal
limbofish:
hey, nice to have you back in here... so perhaps now you will make it to my CD ? wink
