I'm having a hell of a time finding a) a barbershop (I badly need a haircut) and b) a bike shop.

I'm looking on yelp.com, but yelp's reviewers are mostly (though not always) white folks about my age. Fine and well, since I'm a white folk about my age (though early US immigration laws my disagree, it's hard to argue with skin tone), but that...

So the class I wanted to take next semester has been cancelled for the third time. I'm scheduled to graduate (with 4 credits left to finish) at the end of the semester. It's on my master's plan of study, but the bureaucrats at the U of A don't seem to particularly care. So I'm having to switch out with a class I'm a) totally uninterested...

Maurice Sendak Tells scared parents to "Go To Hell".

I had a rant here about how children's literature and arts becoming too 'safe' and overly concerned parents create a stagnant world for children to grow up in. Honestly, though, Sendak's bit about Mickey Mouse at the end says it all. It's a big industry to keep parents afraid and buying books, safety devices, etc....

Someday parents will learn how to parent again, and stop letting the television/babysitter dictate what is good and wholesome. Grrrr.

So, the friends' wedding was a lot of fun. As I said before, sort of a reunion of grad school buddies, some of whom went overseas after they dissertated (disserted? I dunno).

I'm back at the apartment right now, with the kitties, and I'm starting to think I can finally relax and have some fun in the city. That should be great. Anyone with fun...

Friend's wedding in about 7 hours. I always feel a bit awkward at these things, but this is also a mini-renunion of some of the cool (and some much less cool) folks from grad school. It'll be good seeing some old familiar faces again. Then, I head back tomorrow evening... Getting into Oakland at 10:30 or so.

The car is dealt with. You are all breathing a sigh of relief, I'm sure.

Tomorrow night, I go back to Tucson for a wedding. I'll just be in town a few days. Then, back to the job hunt.

Went to a career fair yesterday. With any luck, I'll never have to do that again.

Busy weekend sir. I am heading up to Phoenix tomorrow for a friend's birthday and seeing Bob Dylan at the fair. Guess I should do that before he turns to dust surreal
When you do get back, hopefully a great many things will have changed. Hope everything goes well with the interviews.

Note to self:

Plans and priorities:
1) Get a job.
2) Get car registered.
3) Get a permanet "S" parking permit.
4) Find fun, cheap stuff to do in San Francisco that will let me see a whole bunch of the city.

(1) and (4) can be started concurrently.

Your two cents are always wecomed. I guess my biggest goal is to do something proactive with the funds. Seeing as the DAV and ACS are the two charities that I donate to every year, I will happily send them an exorbitant sum smile

Finally got my peanut butter burger tonight at Lindy's and, let me tell you, it was worth the wait. It was fantastic. I can feel my arteries hardening in appreciation right now.

I'm packed up, and now just ready to load my stuff in my car tomorrow and start driving. I plan on reaching Simi Valley tomorrow night, stopping, and getting to San Francisco around...

Of the more random occurrences in my life, tonight was amongst the top.

I was dead-set on getting a veggie burger with some peanut butter on top of it tonight at Lindy's (Tucsonans, if you've never been there, now is the time to go). Unfortunately, one of my least favorite shows on the Travel Channel, Man vs. Food, was AT FREAKING LINDY'S. And Tucsonans, being...
