Dangers of Tucson in the summer:

1) 110F (40C) temperatures

2) Enough humidity to prevent your swamp cooler (essentially a drippy hose with a fan behind it-pushes the air as the water evaporates to cool you) from working

3) The Palo Verde Root Borer. One of my friends asked how much I'd give him if he "teabagged" one. I told him nothing, since I didn't...

No real news today; sorry for the lack of posts. There's been a distinct lack of what is normally termed "Free Time" on my part.

My company is getting bought out by Roche, the Swiss pharmaceuticals giant. It's a hostile takeover. I'm not yet sure how this'll affect me, and I probably won't know for at least a few months. So, stay tuned, I guess....

I think I _greatly dislike_ the temp at work. The one I told my boss to not hire, because a friend was applying for the same job. My friend would've been much better. I'll get into it some other time.

For now, though, I joined this community supported agriculture thing where you pay a certain amount each season (or each month) and they give you...

Ok, cropped and added a few pics (under Riviera Maya 2007-I'm really creative). Now a short rundown of the trip.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Stayed at an "all-inclusive" resort-which meant, basically, food and booze were paid for up front, and the drinks were really kind of weak and not all that good. But they sure were plentiful.

Got to see Tulum, an ancient Mayan temple...

Thanks to all...

It was a great trip-expect pictures and a longer blog at some point in the near-ish future (although who knows when).

And, apparently, I am a little confused about the Gregorian calendar. My birthday was actually Tuesday.

Ok, so _maybe_ I lied when I said "more later" in the last post. It's been a really busy week, although not a particularly eventful one. Had a work dinner with upper-management types last night. Yeah, freaking awesome. Free food and booze though, so I can't really complain.

Next week, I'll be on vacation in the Riviera Maya. I've never been to the Yucatan before,...

I went to Scottsdale Saturday night, and finally saw proof that having melanin doesn't make you a good dancer. Although lacking it seems to automatically make you a bad one.

More later.

But alcohol makes every one a good dancer, at least in my eyes...lol

Day Watch opens in Tucson June 29. Exciting!

Oh, and apparently, the software I bought to do my taxes didn't actually connect to the IRS to pay my taxes, even though they said they would. So I'm getting into the fun of tax return season.

Statistics and game theory. This has been my past 2 days.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Oh, and my old next-door neighbor (from back when I lived in Seattle) just got indicted for stealing from a casino. I'm not sure the details of the case, but I do know that someone's been tracking down his myspace friends. I got a message from a reporter regarding this,...
