On the one hand, the UA is really godawful about communication. On the other, I'm excited about the subject material for the second attempt here at grad school.
Thanks for the kind wishes, everyone. I think the interview went well. Since the hiring manager's in Switzerland right now (our company was purchased by a certain pharmaceuticals giant that will remain nameless), I'm guessing I won't hear back for a little while until he catches up with his stuff, but I can wait.
School starts a week from Monday, and I really am getting... Read More
Funny you should mention that, I just passe by a place on Camino Seco called Advantage Computers. They have a huge sign on the building that says we remove Vista and install XP. Don't know how much though.
It was the damndest thing. I woke up at 3:30 am on Sunday morning, wide awake. No provocation, no bad dreams, no blind terror or anything like that. I was just... done sleeping, apparently. It wasn't like I went to bed super early (if you must know, aldremech, Lizabeth and I went out for drinks on Saturday). The weirdest part is that I'm not... Read More
The Red Cross always wants blood. I think it's a front for vampires or zombies or something. Hey, there's a B-Horror movie in the making. Mind control drugs in the OJ and little donuts. Bruce Campbell. John Rhys-Davies. I can totally see it. I be the Sci-Fi channel would buy it.
Someone left a container of cat litter on my doorstep with gift ribbons tied to the handle. So, I'm guessing, my cat's been using someone else's yard as a litterbox and that this person has been reading Anne Landers or Dear Abbey or some shit. It's annoying, because I can't control my cat (who can control cats?), I can't keep her inside... Read More
Back from vacation again. Blah blah blah. To those I still owe CDs: They're on the way, I'm going to get them sent out on Friday (that's my goal anyways-one will take a little longer still) I've just been super-lazy this summer. I apologize in a huge way.
_____, if you read this at all, don't get married. Your husband-to-be is a huge douchebag and not good enough for you. I'll support you, and I know this makes you happy, but you should examine your feelings about why you're so excited for this guy.
Also, the Watchmen trailer kinda makes it look awesome/like they... Read More
I'd tell them just that way. It's your responsibility as a friend to tell them the truth, but you have to be willing to accept some resentment. I just did the same thing with a friend of mine, and unfortunately, I don't think we are friends anymore
Been in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area for the past 2 days for some work-related stuff. I'm staying in a nice hotel, but I'm only here 5 or so hours out of the day. It's going to be nice to get home and not have to be working literally around the clock.
In other news, I've got my school schedule picked out for next semester. Before... Read More
D'oh. Long post I accidentally deleted. I'm sure I'll recreate it soon enough. I hope all is well, I just got back from Seattle so I apologize for the lack of any sort of contact (lord knows you've all been clamoring). I'm around till the end of July, then till the beginning of September. Then till February. So, uh, plenty of time.
I've been playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl, if anyone's been wondering. On a note related to my last post, aldremech found a Palo Verde Beetle out by his house. We dread the coming of these things every year, because:
A) They are huge.
B) They're kind of scary.
C) They bite. Hard.
D) They fly at you because they're way too stupid to avoid you.... Read More
Well, after the week's excitement, I've got the house to myself again. Sadly, this makes me more than a little bit bored... The cats, unfortunately, don't seem to be doing anything at all about the cockroaches that come up through the drains this time of year.
A family member possibly has encephalitis. That's some scary shit.
EDIT: He's all better now, after a trip to a hospital in the area that I totally don't trust (an entirely different story). Still, no ideas on what caused it, although the mosquito theory may be gaining some ground.
