Wow... long time since the last update for me.
Well, I went with the pathologist at work to look at some tissue. I got to see someone's incredibly tumorous kidney and someone else's stomach. Honestly-it wasn't that gross (the tissue was fixed, so it wasn't too bloody), and really really fascinating. So I'll tag along again in the future. Maybe I'll even take the gross...

Almost done with "Stiff". Like I said, totally fascinating book. Interestingly, I got a whole bunch of slices of someone's brain on microscope slides to stain. I'm a little more interested in the structure now. Maybe I'll go with one of the pathologists at work when he decides to gather more human tissue. I know it's morbid, but at the same time, it's really interesting...

arent we the most complex machine ever existed?
Exciting stuff. Our company's getting audited by the FDA currently. It's a routine process, but upper management is really scared. Good thing us lower-level types keep good notes.
I found Thisthe other day. My favorite quote so far:
"Honestly, atheists are genetically inferior beings. God has predestined them to their retarded state. I truly believe that Satan will use them as toilet paper in...

I'm currently about halfway through Mary Roach's "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers". What a fascinating book! If you're even slightly interested in what happens after you die and will your body to science, I'd recommend it. Plus, the author is actually very, very funny (in that dry sort of way), making for an entertaining, if frequently sort of macabre, read.

i actually go to the lab where they study that...
So, a kind of long post follows behind the spoilers. Basically, a good friend (and the only ex that I still like) who is NOT a music fan wanted to know what was up with going to shows. Well, my response, I thought, sums up how I feel about music. If you're interested, read, if not, you're missing a lot of my rambling. My replies,...

Last night, I finally watched "Serenity". I know, I'm a little behind the nerd-times, what with it having taken me a couple of years to watch the whole "Firefly"/"Serenity" saga. I still have a few unanswered questions about the series, but I think that that's both normal and intended.

I don't like the whole 'having to be an adult' thing either. However I still act like I'm 17 as opposed to nearly 27, on most days! x
Still waiting to hear on the AZ group membership, but it's my impression this takes a little while.
Talked to Dad today; he's doing just fine. A little wiped out, but he's off the painkillers for the most part and ready to get back to work. After yesterday's freakishly huge hailstorm, it's starting to get really hot again, and I'm actually sort of welcoming it....

I love hot weather! Nothing beats being on the beach, cooling off in the sea on a hot sunny day. Yummy! x
So... Dad's ok. They used a pretty minimally invasive technique (think endoscopy) to remove his gall bladder. He was still recovering on morphine yesterday when I last spoke to him, so he sounded pretty tired and drugged out. But he'll be ok.
In other news, there's a chance I'll be moving to England in a year or two. Either Manchester or Cambridge. I'm pretty excited...

So, I got a call from my mom at 6:30 this evening... apparently, my dad's had his gall bladder out. I'm guessing it went ok (my mom seemed her usual, confident self), but still, a pretty scary thing. I guess he's pretty high on morphine right now and doesn't want to talk to anyone, but, as soon as he gets over the junk, I'm gonna...

Aaah, it's a lovely morning when you start out with an argument about whether a hospital is in Tucson proper, or in South Tucson. Basically, I love getting bitched at because someone (and if you read this regularly, you can probably guess who) is stressed out from her exams.
Here's the thing about Tucson: it's big, and it's one of the oldest continuously settled areas...

In the meantime, I'll let you ponder...
Hitler vs. Stalin
Or Hurra Torpedo:
Trust me, both are worth your time.
Unfortunately, the fleet of people on Segways that I saw while on my Sunday morning walk didn't come out on my camera phone. Which was sad, because at some point I dispensed with subtlety and was just trying to get the right angle.

Maya's taking her first day of her PhD qualifying exams today. They'll run until Friday. As for me, I got up early to exercise and watched a couple of episodes of "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" until I was done.
Oh, yeah, and I applied to the AZ group. We'll see if they take me...

Ok, I don't really have a list, but it would still be badass.
Oh, and when you listen to my music, it's best with headphones. Especially "With a Gun".
