Awesome new links I'm getting involved with:

1) The Tucson CSA

2) Freecycle

3) Engineers Without Borders

In some ways, I'm a giant hippie. Also, I just watched the entire first season of "Metalocalypse" for the first time... fucking... awesome.
serial:
the first season? DUDE!

please tell me you have the latest album!?!
one word... "Murmaider"
browngirl:
yeah, i definitely heard tales about la being the west coast's ny (in a bad way). but i guess sometimes you get so caught up you forget not to stereotype. so tada, ny doesn't make me vomit all the time now. just on tuesdays.

but omg, all the causes are effing awesome. especially EWB, i love it when people put their talents to the service of public good. it makes me remember i need to get more involved actually. you've inspired me.

I applied for the job, but no word yet. Likely, they're looking for someone slightly more qualified than me. Which could be worse. While I'm not actively looking for a new job, the feeling of "I'm not going to go anywhere in the one I've got" is less-than-encouraging.

And that's enough job-whining for a while. Other than that, things are pretty good. I'll likely be...

A small problem:
I saw advertised what would be a dream-ish job for me the other day; as a systems engineer on NASA's new Orion space vehicle. Admittedly, I think space and space travel are awesome (it was part of the reason I moved to Tucson in the first place), and I'm digging the Sys. Eng. work these days. Unfortunately, the job is with Honeywell,...

In other news, my landlord sealed up the swamp cooler. No big deal, since it was getting cooler here, but it's fucking hot again. Bad timing is all.

The pi digits will get started Tuesday after next. I'll post pictures when a) I figure out how (I know it's easy, I'm just an idiot sometimes) and b) it's completed. Should take 3-4 sessions. Perhaps more....

Sometimes I wish I could just sit and talk with our president. With a lie detector in the room. And maybe him under the conditions of the movie "Liar, Liar". Is he really as deluded as he is, or does he know that nobody's gonna do anything to him? I really just wanna know if he's this smug on purpose, or if he lacks the...

I wish it was that simple. I gave up trying to listen to either side of the aisle. They are all self interested pretentious smug pricks with no moral compass.

Ever seen "Barfly"? One of my favorite moments:

Wanda Wilcox: I hate the police, don't you?
Henry Chinaski: Nah, but I seem to feel better when they're not around...

Later in the film:

Wanda Wilcox: I can't stand people. I hate them.
Henry Chinaski: Oh yeah?
Wanda Wilcox: Do you hate people?
Henry Chinaski: Nah, but I seem to feel better when they're not around....

I'm yet again toying with the idea of going back to school while I work. Become a "true" engineer and all. Yep, that's right, I'm thinking about formalizing my systems engineering work, and getting a degree. I'm sure this is tantalizing news to all of you... "Tell me more" I imagine you saying in the back of my mind. "No, I don't want to bore...

In other news, I'm finally getting the pi numbers done. Still working on a good set of fonts (do I go with a different one for each number, or the same one?), but it looks like work will start in mid-to-late-October (we're both busy till then). I'll post pictures when I can.

Also, I beat Bioshock and got one of the "bad" endings.

Finally, someone...

I come back, and haven't updated this in a while. How rude of me.

To be fair though, there really isn't anything happening. One of my friends is moving to Paris for a postdoc on Sunday.

The more I think about it, the more moving to England seems like a good idea. I'll come back to the US eventually; there just won't be another time...
