Bored. And board. My computer's back!

In other news, I've given some minor thoughts to contacting an ex. Don't ask why, cause I really don't know. I realize that our relationship was pretty intense in the day, and that, shortly after we broke up, it was a happy, healthy, cobra vs. mongoose style relationship. In the past few years, though, it's just kind of been...

Dude this does not work out to your advantage, or well maybe it does. Haven't you ever seen High Fidelity?

Breaking apart a sleeper couch and moving it to the street for trash pick-up is both more and less work than you think.

Also, the problem with my computer isn't the hard drive-it's the mother board. Dell, being who they are, apparently have a semi-proprietary architecture, so replacing it means replacing the case, the power supply, and the fan as well. Oh well... it'll be...

Well, we're back from Sicily and still trying to prevent real life from creeping back up. A 2-week vacation will do that to you. Unfortunately, I've basically just used up my vacation time for the year. It was worth it. And I did get to see great-grandpa's village in the mountains of Sicily... so neat!

Also, oddly, although my last name is pretty uncommon in...

That is what vacation time is for. At least you got to burn it all in one shot, as opposed to my pain in the ass boss who won't let me take more than 3 days at a time. mad

My post from yesterday was deleted... ah, well, it was more rambling than anything else. New Year's was fun, although relatively uneventful. We wound up getting the weed equivalent of a booty call, but it was good to see some of those people, too. Any interesting stories out there?

It's not exactly a resolution for the new year, and very far away yet, but I...

I'm back in Tucson.

More importantly, though, I hope everybody's holidays went well and were fun and happy and safe. Mine were pretty good, personally. Not to brag or anything. Anyway, I'll be back in communication starting... now!

So... MSN has an article today about why geeks are so awesome to date. I'm not sure if their reasoning is correct, but then again, it's MSN and they tend to misrepresent nerd-dom. I have a secret suspicion that their writers were jocks in high school. But then again, so was I (swim team though-does that really count?). Ah, well, back to Battlestar Galactica.
browngirl:
1) swim team doesn't count

2) it's about time we got our due in the media. next stop fox or something

So, when I turn my PC off, I get a blinking amber light, and it won't turn back on. Naturally, this started happening about 6 months after my warranty was up, so I can forget about using customer support. Apparently, this is something that this series of Dells does. The solution that I've found: get a new hard drive. Not thrilled about that.
liv:
yeah get a new one always fix those problems hehe biggrin
aldremech:
I already had to replace the damn hard drives on two of my computers at work mad Damn you Dell and your shoddy manufacturing. Make sure to check the fan on the CPU as well. I was told that they occasionally install them upside down, or are not connected to the board properly.

This blog is slowly going to morph into one about cooking.

I made piroshkys yesterday. They're big Russian pastries filled with whatever you want. I first had 'em with an exgirlfriend in Seattle, near Pike Place Market, and have been looking for a recipe since. Mine? Broccoli, onion, potato, cheese, red bell peppers and spinach. Awesome.
browngirl:
omg yum! send me some right now!

(or at least send the recipe, lol)

Shocking. Sorry it's been so long y'all. Highlights of the past couple of weeks:

-Thanksgiving in Texas

-Possibility of moving back to Seattle in a year or so, rather than England

-Watching 'The Abyss' on the Sci Fi channel and seeing ads for pro wrestling

-Learning more about the chemistry and structure of materials that biomedical devices are made out of (fun fact: this sort...

While we don't celebrate Thanksgiving on this side of the Atlantic, we certainly know about from TV shows like Friends having Thanksgiving specials! Who said TV can't inform and entertain at the same time?! x

seattle doesn't sound nearly as exciting as england.
