so, here I am, I think. things lately have been in a state of near-constant flux, and I seem to have made an unconscious and previously unspoken decision to not bother writing about it, or anything really. such stupid decisions must be unmade quickly and efficiently. I aim to do just that. I'm just not entirely sure I know exactly how. my brain is a storm of ideas when I'm up and on my feet and out of doors, but it turns into a freeze-dried apricot when I park myself at my keyboard.

there's no job, currently. no money. I'm going to get my editor's certification and look for work at a local magazine or newspaper. probably end up working back at the old office in the meantime. DREAD. I told myself I'd never go back that way. that den of redneckery. we can't swim backwards, we drown. but we can't starve, either, or allow ourselves to be evicted, because starving homeless on the streets of tallahassee is the leading cause of death among 24-year-old unemployed english majors called Stephen.

I think I might like working for the Discovery or Travel Channel. they'd pay me, and I could have a home, and lunch. maybe furniture.


I got a compass for Christmas. I didn't ask for one, but I really don't know why not. those are the best kinds of gifts. now I can always be sure I'm facing the right direction.
