well its been a bit .
So I got my knuckles tattooed on Friday (they look sweet by the way) and i go back into work on the Saturday and all is well over the weekend. How ever come Monday My sous chef pulls me aside and tells me that the HR women found out and said i have to ware gloves at all time .
To give you some background about my work environment , its very corporate i work for a major hotel and understand the rules and yes i figured there was going to be blow back from this , any way let me get back to the point of all this.
so my sous chef is a pretty big tattoo enthusiast him self so hes been in my corner since the get go , so i don't complain and say sure ill ware the gloves but i don't see why i need to ware them when im behind the line it just doesn't make any sense i cant work with them on and there are no customers he agrees so all is well .
So today i come in and hes pulls me aside again and is like man this is bull shit but im getting in shit now and im told you have to ware the gloves at all times . Now im getting annoyed. I tell him this doesn't make any sense I can think of at least 4 other people that work here that have visible tattoos that haven't been told to cover up, now i was more then willing to compromise , you didnt want me to have my hand visible when i walked through the lobby no problem but to make me ware gloves will working thats just dumb .
so ive arranged for a meeting with this HR women who has been avoiding me since all this has happened to find out whats going on cause if you want to implement rules fine but dont be selective about how and when,
I still have a hard time believing that in 2010 tattoos in the work place are still considered borderline criminal .
Im begging to think it may be time to move jobs ah don't know ...
