I had a great time at the pool today. There were a lot of kids out there. My friend's new roommate has the most adorable little girl named Lilly. She's 3 and was TERRIFIED of the water. She wouldn't even let her father take her off the steps. She'd get all panicky and start crying like crazy. For some reason, she came right up to me and said, 'Hold me', so I did. Then, I carried her all around the pool and showed her how fun the water could be. By the end of today she was swimming by herself in the deep end. As we were coming inside to eat hot dogs and pizza (kid food), she said, "You're my best friend, Lindsay. I love you."

How fucking sweet is that? I thought I was gonna cry. Kids are so COMPLETELY honest, y'know? If they feel something, they just put it right out there.

You have to adore that about them.

Kids are a HUGE commitment. You must have patience. First they wanted hot dogs for lunch so we cooked hot dogs. Then they said they didn't want hot dogs and they wanted pizza. Then they wanted pickles and chips and oreos and ice cream and lord... where do kids put all that junk? LOL

I had some great practice a couple of years ago. When I first started dating Lisa her daughter, Sage, was a year and a half old. By the time the relationship finally imploded Sage was going on 4. It was really fun being daddy Justin! That was one of the hardest things about the breakup was that though I pretty much hated Lisa I still loved her daughter to no end. That was a rough breakup!
But yeah, kids are a huge committment even as a pseudo-daddy. I am dying to meet someone to have a family with. I will make such a GREAT dad. I want three kids - one of each gender. ;-)
