Here's one from the nothing is easy files...

I have an old pressure washer. After 10 years moss was growing on my deck. Half way through the moss removal the hose breaks right at the connection to the power unit. The sprayer is molded to the other end of the hose. All I want is a sprayer with a hose to connect to the old unit. Sounds simple right?

My wife researched new power washers online, and saw one she thought would be good at Home Depot.

Because I had to go to the bank, Home Depot was the other direction, so we stopped at Menards. We didn't like the small electrics, but then I spotted a package with a hose and sprayer for about half the price. I looked at the box thinking this should work. My wife threw up her hands in disgust and walked away, her research for naught.

We get home, open the box, and I try to screw the hose fitting onto the power unit. Not even close. Fucking Chinese bullshit. They switched to using all metric on the hose connectors (22mm).mad

Back to Menards, only this time we brought the power unit along, the thought being we'll just buy the correct adapter fitting, problem solved. Wrong!! They don't have any metric fittings. Total fail, so we return the sprayer, and head off to Home Depot, my wife having that "I told you so" look.whatever

We look at the one that she had originally picked, but neither of us were in love with it. Once again I go for the replacement hose and sprayer because it says "universal" on the box. I also saw a number of bins with an array of adapters many saying 22mm. My thinking was, if this doesn't work I'll just run back in and grab an adapter, end of story.

Get back to the car, open the box, same fucking thing.eeek Run back into the store, fumble through the bins only to realize what I need isn't there. Back to the car, grab everything, and schlep back inside. The woman who was working in the department admitted straight out she was clueless and basicly ran away from us. If I could just find a combination that converts metric to standard, I would be happy.surreal Finally, I found two pices that did just that, but I wasn't done yet. The standard end had to change size. Off to plumbing where we found a helpful employee. He seemed to enjoy the challenge almost as much as I did. (I think it's a guy thing.)

In the end it took FIVE seperate pieces, costing over $22 to make the adapter. Added to the cost of the sprayer and hose, I saved $30 over the cost of a whole new washer. The verdict is still out whether it was worth all the trouble. My luck, the old power unit will fail.shockedwhatever

Not sure really. Stuff comes and goes.

Talking to my Doc tomorrow, but not sure about what I'm going to do in the foreseeable future.

Definitely switching to a doc who can prescribe down here as I'm not driving 100+ miles to sit in the fucking waiting room longer than I see a Doctor.

Assuming I can drive that far anyway.

Hitting some boxing gyms next week, hopefully that will give me something to release the demons.
