I never saw Avatar in the theater... I blew it off as populist tripe. After all, it was the highest grossing film of all time. I figured they didn't need my 8 bucks.

Now that it's on cable, I can't stop watching it. I realize that the theater experience is a bit grander, but I don't mind. I have a pretty nice HDTV.

The CG and the colors are spectacular. The story, which the critics mostly panned, reminds me exactly of Dances With Wolves, only with aliens. I happen to love Dances With Wolves. The big difference is at the end of Avatar the "indians" drive off the "white man". I rather like that twist.

The other day I saw a one hour documentary on the history of Industrial Light and Magic, narrated by Tom Cruise. Great stuff for anyone who likes movies. Available on On Demand on Encore.

I said to my wife, "As good as this looks now, in 20 years, it will look like shit."

They, being the several people from Enterprise who made this a slow process.

Really, I should have gone for UPS, got it, been doing what I'd rather do for now and then applied at Enterprise, so I'd have a job in hand.

That's what angers me with the whole experience, the fact I pretty much missed the boat with UPS because I thought it would be bad if I worked at UPS for say two weeks and then switched over.

Now, hindsight being 20/20, everyone says I should have done that in the first place, when UPS is what I wanted to do to begin with, since Enterprise really doesn't interest me.

C'est la vie.

Yeah, I may have your Twins curse. Seriously though, this team has been screwed of three legitimate goals in the last two games we've been too, but they have no goal camera and they have no "Toronto" so they get fucked.

Wild how they can beat a team who we watched them lose to 7-2 at home, 8-0 away last Saturday, and then lose Sunday.

What is fun is the fact our section brings the team to life in the end of the 3rd period, its our heckling and yelling that gets them all jacked up, and its nice to know that the team are feeding off it, even if they can't shoot and lose all the time.

I have a great time at every game because (unlike our Twins) I have no expectations. They are shit, they do get screwed over, so sitting with my friends yelling shit at the goalie, standing up getting the opposition players to look at me as I heckle them makes it all worthwhile.

Plus our section is hilarious. This lady next to me hands me her phone saying this guy in the suite across the rink is saying Minnesota sucks. I was like tell him to come down here, and I started talking trash on the phone, to find out it was Chris (who is an OSU/Canucks fan) who sits right next to us. He was with his work buddies who got a suite rather than sitting where he usually does. Hysterical.

We are, and the feeling of making the game better for everyone around us makes the experience better. I've got the A-OK for season tickets (I've just bought them every game so far) so I'll be there 34 more times. biggrin

The best is when you get the goalie to shake his head because he's listening to all the stuff we say everything to "You're a Siv", "Ya GAHBAGE!" to clean insults like "You have no facebook friends", "You love your family", "You kiss your brother", "You live in a boring town". We also specialize them to whoever it is and where they are from.

We've also got the Gopher - "Always were" and "That's debatable" going, although I think the "and they still suck" is the best (MSU hockey).

We also throw out hockey pop culture references: Swingers, slapshot, the old nike commercials.

Btw, the Walleye's captain is a Vikes fan, not from Minnesota though, Brampton Ontario. He's a fighter, small by scrappy. So last game someone smashes him against the boards I get up scream and point "HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO A VIKINGS FAN". It was amazing.

Yeah, people in Detroit won't talk shit to you really at any sporting event, especially since you are rooting for a team when there are tons of fans in that area.

I think one time out of the 18 years I lived up there did a kid say anything to me, and it was in passing after the Twins just won and I didn't even hear it, my friend did. The kid didn't have the balls to say it to my face or say it loudly.
