Well my cold seems to be on the decline. I actually got 6 hours of sleep in a row last night.shocked

Had an interesting lunch with my wife today. We went to a Chineese place that neither of us had been to in well over 15 years (we've only known each other for 7 years). We started off with a BBQ pork appetizer which came with the standard sweet and sour and hot mustard sauces. I've always said that that mustard clears your sinuses, but today was my chance to prove my theory.eeek Yup, it works. I could feel the burn all the way up, scalp sweating, eyes watering, but in a good way. Thought my brain was going to catch fire.

The restaurant was quite busy. The average age of the customers seemed to be somewhere up around 70. I may be old by SG standards, but I was doing my best to drag that number down. We were seated next to a table of 8, six women and two men, none of whom could have been under 75. Normally I don't listen to people's conversations, but in this case it was almost impossible not to. One of the old guys was doing most of the talking, and loudly at that. Maybe it was just necessary for the others to hear him.

The topics were many but most focused on church business. Some of the things said were less than politically correct, and we rolled our eyes as we ate. Then there was the standard bemoaning of violence on television with the examples of "Hill Street Blues" and "CSI". And of course no oldtimer's repertoire would be complete without derogatory comments toward the younger generation. There was a small surprise in the melange. He liked "My Name Is Earl".

I've told my wife many times, "If I ever get like that, please shoot me." I'm doing my best to not get old in spite of the passage of time.

Eventually they left, and the restaurant seemed to fall silent. We finished our $38 lunch in peace. If that sounds a bit expensive, it did come with two free dinners AKA leftovers. Yummy.

Alot of my patients are stuck in there ways, with them being a older crowd. Occasionally get the cool grams and gramps. Very rare though. I usually just let them talk and tell me there life story. Sometimes I think either they have no family left or no one listens to them anymore. So I help them out and listen.
