It's been a long, hard fought road and my gramps fought like a bare knuckled bar brawler... a fighter sounds too light... nah, mutha fucker was a pugilist.
Homeboy came over on a boat by way of ellis, moved to the boogie down, went to college, became an engineer, raised some kids, travelled the world (good ol' jim visited all the hot spots... egypt, russia, china, south africa, india...) and LIVED to ninety-friggin-five.
I've been away from the site, from the updates as I've been in/out to the hospital for weeks now. He fought a little too hard... started to suffer something fierce.
But it's over and i'm happy he's let go...
I've been at the funeral home all day... then the florist... then to the restaurant where i'm gonna take some out of town peeps out... then on the phone booking flights for others... shit wears you down.
Missed y'all.
