As I watch the newscasts about the American Gulf coast, I wonder to myself "Is the world going to donate billions of dollars like they did in Asia?" Just because America is rich doesn't mean that those who could not afford insurance should have their lives ruined. A smaller number of people may have been affected by this than the tsunami but the economic impact on the world will be much greater unless we stop the bleeding.

Bes ides the obvious human tragedy, New Orleans is a historic city and its sad to see so much of it be destroyed. When the World Trade Center came down, the loss of human life and long-lasting, negative social impact were the real tragedies. Many people, however. don't know that the World Trade center was home to some signifcant works of art by Roy Lichtenstein, among others.

No matter which angle you hit this from, it just plain sucks.

I wonder about the money donations too. America is always viewed as a rich country but the majority of people in the country are not rich. These people lost their homes and cars and sometimes their families. They have nothing. I hope people will understand that and make some donations or help in some way.
