I decided (along with my colleagues) that termination was the best course of action with that aforementioned employee. I get to do that on Monday and go to my Uncle's funeral later that week! This is going to be sweet.
By the way, in the past 2 months, my uncle and my grandfather have both died of cancer that could have been avoided if they didn't smoke. My dad passed away in 2003 for an unrelated illness but his system was so weakened from smoking that he couldn't fight it anymore. I won't get too much higher and mightier about this issue, but is that stinky, expensive, obnoxious habit worth dying for? I didn't think so and I quit a couple years ago. Don't get me wrong...I loved smoking! I still miss it but its just not worth it.
Think hard: you all know someone who has died or will die because they smoked. Do you want to be on that list?
