Its been a while...
I know the last time I wrote I reviewed some new cd's and I don't remember what I said about the new Modest Mouse cd, but I must say it is quite the new favorite cd. I have been listening to it non-stop, singing along at the top of my lungs as I drive throughout LA. I am a bit weirded out at the fact that KROQ is playing Modest Mouse. I just like indie bands to stay indie, and radio stations like KROQ outplay everything, but then again, I am on my way to out playing the cd, so?

My new job is very chill, I am finally maiking money and was able to pay for my first UCLA Extension Music Business course. $515 for 12 classes puke , but hey its what I want to do, and this program is suppose to be amazing.

I saw The Velvet Teen the other night and they were great. It's hard to find bands that sound just as good as in the studio, but they were one that truely did. In the next week I will be seeing WHY? and other members of anticon, Blonde Redhead, Azure Ray, and the Breeders.

As for new cd's...
Deerhoof - Milk Man
All I can say is that it is very scattered. Just look at the first song, there is a guitar rip that sounds like your listening to Phish, into some loud drums, and then turns into a very simple, pretty song that sounds nothing like any of the other songs on the cd. The group experiments with many styles and textures and I can't tell if I like it yet, need to give it a couple more listenings. My best friend shaun, who has great taste in music really enjoys the new Deerhoof, if that helps.

Daedelus - Of Snowdonia
If your not familuar with Daedelus, he is on the top of my list when i think of electronica/hip hop producers. This cd is totally on the electronica side, a little slow, but a very good album. If your new to Daedelus, but are interested, look for the Household EP, can't go wrong.

Blockhead - Music By Cavelight
Blockhead is a producer and these beats are very nice. Simple, yet a lot of thought put into them, I think people of every genre would enjoy this cd. Don't sleep on this one.

Aveo - Battery
Ok, so I am at The Velvet Teen concert and the first group to go on was the worst group I have seen in a while, just gave me a huge headache. Then Aveo comes on. I am thinking it might have been that the first group was so bad, the venue so small, and tempatures rising by the minute that I actually really enjoyed this group from Seatle. Their music is very pretty. I bought the cd, and now realize it is some very corny rock, but still very pretty. If I had a second chance I would have never bought the cd, but if you feel like some pretty corny rock, this would be my number one pick of the year. So I guess in all its not that bad, really relaxing at times.

On another tip, I finally got a new cell phone. I enjoyed going without a phone for almost two months, but really couldn't do it for much longer.

I must sign this entry off with my condolences to those people in Spain, so, so sad.

I am out

no no no, you have great taste in music....
oh wait...we have the same tastes. i guess that's how that works.
i haven't gotten the new modest mouse yet. i need to get on that.
and i didn't know kroq was playing them. (never listen to the radio).
i agree - i kinda like my bands to remain indie. but i'm always a little torn, cuz i also want them to do well - they deserve it.
but i'm still reeling from the nissan commercial.
