so many beers later (should be read as a line from Singles). fiction vs non-fiction. fiction has lost its lusture for me as i age. especially post modern fiction. it feels like a random walk through those successive days in life where nothing happens. that is why time compresses and accelerates. but fiction is vicarious experience. it's like life with training wheels. after a certain level of experience fiction is just a waste of time. maybe fiction becomes perhaps escape. or in the case of really timeless fiction a way to atomism and slow down the sweet sorrow of heartache or some other bittersweet experience. where the book somehow understands you and only you.
