i totally hear you, and lucy grealy and hers rock - i collect well written why-me memoirs and covet them. i guess i want to veer not b/c writing about illness is hard, but because it's easy, and because it's expected of me . . . i think that's my damage. it's hard to nail it down, exactly. xo
