delightful inception

this time
i decided to slide
unexpectedly,
taking unassuming steps forward,
accepting the occasional need to step back again..

the need to pause
and embrace
simple bouts of contentment
for exactly what they are
and not a percent more or less.

and now
i am on the brink
of goose-bump inducing glee
as he kisses my imperfections
and tells me they're his favorite.

his hands...
never culminating in their caresses,
make me able to sink
and feel safe
and to close my eyes
and sigh
and for once,
to just be.

be all that is me, just me ---
and know that i am thanked for it.

there really are lucky stars.
