Why did I just run 4k on a whim when I'm grossly overweight and incredibly lazy? Is this a turn for the better? I hope so!
A quick backlog; I'm by nature a "big" fella - I've got pretty wide shoulders and generally quite a stocky build. As a child I used to do Cross Country running for my Primary School which stopped when I went to Academy (12years old upwards for my lovely American friends!
) However over the last 2-3 years (funnily enough coinciding with finding full time work after leaving University) I've been slowly but surely putting on a LOT of weight. One of my bandmates/best friends is quite similar but his brother and father have been teasing him mercilessly about his weight for years and he's finally had enough and he's taken up running to do something about it.
Now remembering that I used to be quite good at it I thought I'd take up his offer of encouragement to join him and his 2 cousins for a run! I feel utterly destroyed just now haha! Their version of 5k is VERY different to an actual 5k- more like closer to 7!
However I feel surprisingly good and want to go out for a jog tomorrow after band practice. Think it's the turning point and I'll be doing something to make me feel happier about myself. Maybe once I've lost a bit of weight I might try my hand at a Martial Art as it's something that I've wanted to do for a long time but never had the courage to because of my weight!
Wish me luck.

Then we can go ruin all our hard work every Saturday Night!
