so it is my day off. but not really. fabric shopping today. checking up
on amy e., who tenatively made plans w/me to go up for sf decom. don't
know if it will happen if this falls through which would suck mightily. i havent
been up to sf in two years and id love to do it again.

last night was a fun and productive one. it looks like i will be exhibiting
one of my interactive books at an art show on the 16th, one day after my
b-day. i talked for quite a while to the curator of the show. turns out he has done
a lot: designed elton johns piano-keys outfit for his central park show in 1980
(hint for all costume-makers - embroidery thread reflects rather than absorbs
light, and you can use this to great effect in your costumes.) does backdrops for the
tonight show for their musical guests and did an absolut ad (i can feel the dispute about
art and commerce brewing already... more on this later.). the show i'll be exhibiting this
at? dont laugh... a dada-absurdist inspired event called cabaret voltaire. biggrin Plus, andrei lives
here at the brewery with me. its amazing to see how much is happening with my art when i show
it. the creation/gestation is always what takes the longest.

its being held at the center for inquiry west at 4773 hollywood blvd. its a space run by skeptics.
i remember when csisop hosted their conference in burbank and wrote about it for ntla. they
always seem surprised that people actually know about their work outside their own little circle.
ive always been torn, however, about skepticism. i understand and respect their importance. i was once
a phone psychic for miss cleo, and i was often put in the unfortunate position of having to manipulate
people who called, thinking that i could somehow create a palatable future for them. and it was great
finally getting a chance to see harlan ellison speak at that conference, too.

but theirs is the path of reason, and while i still think i am within reason, as one of you already knows,
i have chosen the way of the heart. the mind is not always as reliable as it may tell us, and it can play
tricks on us as any convict in solitary confinement can tell you. as the little prince tells us, the heart can
see what the mind cannot. it sees what will help me grow. maybe one day i will make a storybook illustrating
the balance between reason and love if i live long enough.

afterwards i went to jumbos clownroom a famed stripbar to see if two friends of mine who perform there
were there. they werent but it was still good to see. people got nervous when i went to the jukebox, since all
the dancers dance to the music they choose on it. one of them was very aggressive in a sweet sort of way. but i eventually
left. a certain sg male revealed his crush for one of my friends on his profile and now i know ha ha.

for those interested in finding a true spiritual adept i point you to www.humankindness.org. this is an incredible man
named bo lazoff who teaches buddhism and spirituality to prisoners in some of the meanest and saddest penitentiaries
in this country. people often write to him from prison with spiritual quandaries like you wouldn't believe and he is able
to answer their questions in a way that has utterly astounded me. he is also a former colleague of ram dass and a spirit from
the 60s as well and one who shows me that in a country with the highest incarceration rate of any industrialized society that
we can teach kindness and love even in the darkest hellholes.

and i have begun to wander out of my tent to make a few remarks as well. but still i have more work to do. for now
i am invisible and i likethe fact that only a few people see me. for now they are the ones that are meant to i think.

surreal dood, i think hes hiding from me mang.
PLURH,
)O->
rxqueen:
much respect for the words you've written in the Courtney Love thread.
