THINGS TO DO:
1) work on design plans. exciting news.
in keeping with my traditions of lateral explorations and instinctual second-guessing games, i am now designing men's fashion.
and i am realizing how BORING most men are when it comes to dress, let me tell you!
what can i say, except that i like color? men seem to be trapped in this dull grey earthtone...

i can't have been the only girl to do an androgynous/boy set?
choppafreak:
Yeah, men's clothing is lame. I dig hunter orange and anything else gaudy. Bright colors are fun and people seem to find it annoying to see them on a big hairy freak like me. It's kind of sad how many of my fashion choices are based on what annoys people. A month or so ago I was at a bar where they had Mardi Gras beads on the christmas tree, so being a drunk bored klepto barfly I took a strand of big gold plastic beads to wear.
Every one of my friends said "Jesus Damien, why are you wearing those stupid beads? Come on man, take that shit off, it looks ridiculous." This was the best response possible and I continued to wear them proudly for weeks and garner many criticisms from all who knew me. I was so happy. Then my friend Carrie whose New Year's resolution was "Fight Everyone" yanked them off me to pick a fight, and although I didn't fight her I did call her names and was sad.
Then on Monday I went back to the same bar and lo and behold the leftover beads were all in a bowl on a table and now I am rocking the gold mardi gras beads once again. Fuck you Carrie!
I keep threatening to paint my chopper hot pink just to hear my fellow club members freak out and demand that I not do it. Maybe in the springtime.

just recently i have rediscovered online a formative fanzine from my youth, the redoubtable SHOCK CINEMA. many of the films listed in the "favorite films" box over there yonder underneath my silly picture were initially brough to my attention thanks to this fanzine's editor, steve puchalski, who used to manage jim's video on st. mark's place in nyc. if you live near...

an it was nice seeing all those sparkles!
so i am sitting down with the memphis blues here in my ramshackle loftspace dwelling on the weekend and what the encroaching holiday season will bring. last night was the pajama jammy jam, held in the lovely industrial corridors of the san fernando valley. jeez, there must have been 5,000 square feet of prime playspace in the space we threw it in, and lotsa people...

It's pretty simple- I mostly use the small jam jars. The trick is getting enough fire in there- just a candle really doesn't do it. I use a small wick torch. With a little practice, you can really vary the sensation however you want.

...rolling small jam love jars...
I was unaware of the Tuxedomoon release you mentioned. They seem to put things out in dribs and drabs still. Some old rehashes, some new constructs. The technology has grown so since they began, the sounds they brew up could so easily be built from electrons now rather than analog wave forms. I've heard they're in Berlin, and still at work, and I hope it's so. I sure do remember then they were the alternative... the SF punk kids loved em, along with the protoelctronic geeks, great mix.
I'll look around for the special pillow, thanks for the recommend.

i am blowing off work right now, as i'm on deadline but I have to tell you all...
i saw a RAINBOW OVER BURBANK today!
that's right, i saw a real rainbow over my corner of burbank where i work after the rain here in la today, and it was beautiful. it was a full one, too, the sort that you always see in cards and stuff. the sort that has a pot of gold at the end of it, guarded jealously by gangbanging leperchauns with tek-9s and ak-47s.
recently, i've become very entranced with color. coinciding interestingly enough with this is a wonderful website dedicated to color and color schemes from artists and philosophers ranging from Pythagorus to Goethe. Most interesting for me on this site is the color sphere, a wonderful system of reference devised by an artist named Phillipe Otto-Junge around the same time Isaac Newton was devising physics (and btw, did you know that many believe that Newton died a virgin? It happens when you're that hardcore of a nerd that you devise your own brand of science) it's a great reference for all artists, i feel.
Now all i need to see is a unicorn on hollywood boulevard and my life will be complete.
alright, now back to aesop rock...

i am sitting back to do a little, uh, work tonight. if all goes well and good, i shall be speaking soon to spike jonze, chris cunningham and michel gondry about their participation in the directors series dvd that palm pictures is putting out. already, i'm glad that i took this assignment, as the work they've done is simultaneously funny, beautiful, trippy and just stunning...

i remember reading about that some time ago. you know, my literary curiosity wants me to break my rule about tattoo's (i only get religious symbols tattooed onto myself, belief is very important to my perception of the universe - others that is, not my own) just to know what the story is about.
ahh, The Lottery... what a lot of fun that was.
anyway, you should never be intrigued by the things i say. i'm mostly crazy and talk out of my ass a lot.
go see "Kill Bill" its worth it.
and have a nice day...

okay, so decompression was yesterday here in la. hoo baby baby baby, but it was burning up two whole city blocks here. i have no regrets.
apparently, this is part of the BMorg's master plan to introduce its art into communities all across the country. that's in theory, but in reality, it's basically planting shitloads of weirdness right in the middle of cities and converting...

Cabaret Voltaire happened tonight. as far as exhibiting the book went, it was fairly par for the course, but the book itself is designed more for one-on-one experiences and not for a huge throng of people. Still, it was good to show it in an "official" setting and always good to bring more people into my world. i always have a hard as hell time...

Herbert is great, and I wrote a comment in the thread you started. Thanks for putting it out there, and giving me the heads up.
Did you know that Dani Siciliano is coming out with her debut solo albumn? She's the one who does all of the female vocals for Herbert. It's really good. Herbertesque (poppy and glichy) but definately different. It's not out yet here though, I found clips by searching on the net.
