I am currently on day 4 of a 10 day vacation. This is huge, because I haven't had more than 4 days off, in a row, for well over 10 years (seriously). There's just one problem, I'm broke. I'm a subcontractor who works in the trades, and we don't get paid time off. So, I have to find new and creative ways to keep myself occupied. This morning, for example, I've decided to start re-watching Daredevil on Netflix for, like, the billionth time. And (I'm not proud of this) I'm picking fights on Facebook. Wait! Hear me out! I live in the Cleveland area in Ohio, and for those unfamiliar, our baseball team recently changed their name from The Indians to The Guardians. It was a long-overdue change, but it finally happened. Well, as you might have guessed with today's political climate in America, the change was not popular with some. I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I say that the Guardians Facebook page could literally post, "Hey guys, it's Monday.", and the comments section would immediately be filled with rants about "erased history", "baseball is over in Cleveland", etc. But this morning, they went all out and posted a nice little message, wishing anyone who celebrates it, a Happy Kwanzaa... HOW... DARE... THEY. You can imagine the comments. My favorite was a very simple, "Made up holiday." 'Cause you know, aaallll the other holidays we celebrate were handed down to Moses on the lesser known 3rd tablet. "And thus the Lord spoke, and from that day forward, the last Friday in April was for celebrating the trees." Anyway, I picked that and few choice others to post witty replies to, and now I'm just waiting to see if there's any takers. Like I said, I'm not proud of it (although an entire blog about it might beg to differ). I'm also planning a trip to Lowes later, I need parts to fix a broken hand rail and leaky kitchen sink. Stay tuned for the blog, it should be riveting stuff.
