this day has always been regarded as special to me. to me there is more to this holiday then what seems to be just uber nationalism. sure our country for the most part has had it's up and downs. in some eyes we as a country are perfect in others we are criminals. i see neither. i see, especially in this day, that we aren't the out casts of the world. i see it in just the glowing eyes of childern, i see it in the pride of a 80 year old veteran, but what struck me the most was seeing it in normally dissilusioned youth. it was weird today the suburn fake punks on their skate boards really is just as american as baseball. The greatest feeling i get from the forth of july is in the middle of all this nationalism and flag waving that politics is completely thrown out the window. I wrote a paper about this theory i have that no matter what your political views are, you will still get that warm feeling inside when the sun goes down and fireworks light up the sky. fireworks really show the simplicity of happiness. all it is and explosion with pretty colors. so simple a quick pop and yet it's beautiful. people try so hard to find happiness in their lives, and the more work they put into it, the moret disapointing it is when you still aren't fulfilled. but really true happiness comes from quick explosions that are beautiful but may only last a short while. i guess the key is to enjoy the fireworks display that is your life. yes there will be plenty of duds or the occiasional cloud in the sky, but if you don't take the time to enjoy those quick bursts of happiness then you haven't let yourself live.....
