Academic rockstardom is hilarious. A bunch of us tried to go to Slavoj Zizek's public lecture today, but the line for seats was out the door and halfway across the quad. Craziness. They had a good 200 people more than they had space for show up. I suggested to one of my profs, who was running around wringing his hands and trying to figure out what to do, that he try to book the Rockefeller Chapel, and his eyes lit up, he got on the phone... and couldn't score it. Maybe next time. So no Zizek for me today. Luckily, I have class with him twice a week. Suckaz!
Other than that, I am so. fucking. exhausted. Dear Dr. Zizek, for instance, decided to drop the class an email this afternoon and tell us to read an entire fucking novel, the full text of which is online, for class tommorrow. In addition to the 300 pages of reading he had already assigned on Tuesday. And the 200 pages of reading I have for my Marxism course. Are you kidding me?
Meanwhile, my students are trying to get me to help them revolt against the prof, whom they (admittedly somewhat aptly) think is a moron. They asked me if I could possibly give a few lectures. Wtf?
Seriously, the world is broken. I'm out of Jameson. It's not good. Send help.

But then again, I have this problem of never reading assigned shit; probably because it's usually so boring I fall asleep. No word on whether this would be different if I were reading, uh, not chemistry textbooks.
But hey, who am I?
