Pee Wee Herman: There's things about me you don't know, Dottie. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand.
Dottie: I don't understand.
Pee Wee Herman: You don't want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel.
be_elzebe:
awesome. i mean about the pee-wee herman and spreading the cudgel word to sg chicago.
velocity:
When I was in high school, I had a shirt that said, "Save PeeWee". I wish I still had it.

Sometimes things just don't go your way, I guess.
rickroyal:
Indeed.

There are those times when I think I've hit rock bottom only to hear a little voice ask me if I'd like to see the basement. You have my sympathy for however things broke the wrong way for you this time.

I suppose it's easy to mistake Van Helsing for the scientific one because he's aligned so closely with Dr. Seward. Seward is our example of rational scientific thought; he's an Englishman fully entrenched in the ideas of the enlightenment. He cannot find a cause to Lucy's illness because it is not of a scientific origin.

Van Helsing, on the other hand, is Dutch and not bound by the same rigid constraints of englightenment logic (i.e. science can explain everything) and can thereful accept a supernatural explanation for what's going on. Van Helsing is a scientist and a rational person, but one who is capable of looking outside of science for explanations. This places him outside of the world of Seward & co. and halfway into Dracula's world.

I think one of the themes Stoker was trying to show was that, while the world was changing, it was foolish to believe everything could be explained. Van Helsing may have cost Lucy her life because he feared Dr. Seward would lose faith in him if he initially came forward with stories of vampires.

But it has been a while since I read the novel, so I may be misremembering.

(In the film, though, Van Helsing is a loon. He's a scientist, but he's so far out on the edge that it appears that madness is creeping in on his every action. Not sure why they portrayed him in that way but I like it.)

Wow, I kind of forgot about this site. Weird. Sorry SG, I have a new internet crush, it's called Kingdom of Loathing. Ain't no naked ladies, but it's pretty effin' rad. Anyways, I'll be better now baby, I swear, just give me another chance.

Maybe not that I'm not a dork, just that...well, maybe just safety in numbers or something. Whatev.

And I'm awaiting an email with a cute little (simple) Pole in front of something awesome with held breath. With or without nutsacks on forehead.
esme:
Hmm...I'll have to check that out (except that much of the reason for my leaving is to cut drooling in front of the internet out of my life).

Take care of Lindsey for me, eh? And good luck with the graduating!

So my account was due to renew last Sunday, and I had clicked cancel, and was all ready to end it, and then I was like, well, I ought to give this new format a chance, bla bla bla. Now I'm regretting it. But here's the thing - my reasons for not really wanting to be a member of SG have nothing to do with...

I know exactly what you mean. I find it harder to walk away than ever before however. Houston has never had an SG community before, but just recently several members have started hanging out. It seems like everytime we have an event more members show up and stick around. The community was one of the main reasons I joined the site to begin with and it's nice to finally see the community grow. I share all your feelings, but to me the site is less about the girls than the interesting members. I honestly can't remember the last time I even looked at one of the sets. I lost interest in that part of the site a very long time ago.

I don't know if your panties are still in a bunch about the SG decline-and-fall narrative/routinization-of-charisma hooha, but Reina's last tank girl set made me squeal like a piggy. I think yours are common complaints about any organization that gets (maybe) too big for its britches. With 1,000 plus girls there's bound to be drama. Before you give up on SG for good you might want to think about the following: i) any alternative "erotic" or porn site that's not directly owned by the model/s is going to be way, way, way more degrading to women and way more interested in exploiting naive 18 year olds. ii) what suggestions would you have to bring SG back to the glory days of old (for members/models/organizers/etc.)? i miss you, t-rex.

Well, as my Dad put it, it's better to lose to Ecuador and beat Germany than the other way around, anyhow.

I'm not really following FIFA right now, but I was woken up this morning to watch Serbia play the Netherlands... I am more of a hockey fan, actually, and Edmonton is sucking hahaha But at least they won last night. biggrin

I'm going to be traveling all of Italy this fall. From the north to the south, and making all of the major stops to study the gardens and architecture (and drink the wine). biggrin But I bet you're going to have a blast this time around in Europe.

Sometimes I think that if it weren't for Bassnectar I'd fail out of grad school. Well, that and the marvelous Miss beelzebe. And coffee, and... Seriously, Diverse Systems of Throb and the noises of her tapping away at her (formerly my) laptop at my kitchen table are the soundtrack to all my final papers. And I love it that way.

The further along I...

I dunno, my exgirlfriend shaved all hers off once and it took a really long time to grow back and they looked really weird.

1 You do not actually miss freedom from thought. You just think you do.

2 I know commenting in my own journal is ber-lame but as my comment had nothing to do with anything but your comment it somehow seemed to make more sense that way. I realize that this is further proof that my Internet social skills lag way behind my offline social skills (which, before you say anything, are far from perfect).

3 You still have the best "CURRENT CRUSH" ever.

C.U.D.G.E.L., aka, Urban Golf Chicago, was a huge success.

I didn't actually play - my job was to sit in the bar at the end, get drunk, and collect scorecards and bribes. Much fun was had. Much liquor was consumed. The day before, I put in a few hours work spray-painting t-shirts, which was a blast, despite the fact that I am still covered in...

where in Europe are you going? I'm going to Italy this fall, myself, which I'm quite excited about biggrin

Thanks for commenting on my set kiss

Sometimes I do semi-politically active things. Like write letters to people at Ethos Water. It's curiously satisfying, even though they never wrote me back (I wrote them almost a month ago).

Hi,
I purchased a bottle of your ethos water today. I admit, the "save the world" message is an effective advertising campaign. But I have a hard time believing that it's more than...

So my friend Sean says that the best way to make a decision (presuming there are two options) is to flip a coin, and let that decide. And then see how you feel once the decision is made, and reassess (reasess? reasses? more ass!). So maybe I did something like that. In any case, it definitely sucked, and luckily I got to take it back....
