It makes me feel old when I start thinking about stuff like...the fact that I grew up listening to tapes...not cds...because they didn't even exist yet! lol I remember my mom's boss had a lazer disk player and we were all like ooooooohhhhhh...hell, we still had records and record players..OMG, I actually had a little bitty record player when I was a kid...and I would listen to sweet pickels on it and stuff like that...you know, those books that had the record in the back so you could listen to the story while reading the book at the same time...and at the end of the record it would tell you to flip it over..I wish I still had that thing....I don't think the kids would know what to do with it though...hehehe..I can remember going over to friends houses and listening to Disney records and stuff....god...that means I was around even before tapes made their big debut...maybe?....and my parents had a record player that still played eight tracks for the longest time...finally sold THAT thing in a yard sale....if you had a computer you were rich..my family didn't have one until I was a senior in high school! lol Oh god..windows 3.1...it was horrible..but wonderful back then! lol I grew up playing atari...and I remember when the first nintendo system came out...man was THAT awsome! I was in junior high...hehehe...now it's like arcaic! But we would play super mario brothers for HOURS!! I learned to type on a typerwriter...not a computer...and they CALLED it typing..not keyboarding...I just wonder what we'll have 28 years from now....and will we be able to remember all this shit?

i keep tapes in my car- its the only place i listen to them
and i regret getting rid of some of my old ones
and i miss havinng the record player set up in the basement of my house - growing up - and playing the THriller record my dad had just bought
i used to have a Commodore 64 computer
that shit was awesome
and i remember getting a typewriter with a correction strip- and that was insane
i think im gonna lay kinda low for mardi gras
it is my first one
and im excited and all
but
im writing an article for one of the local papers on one of the tradional african american carnival groups - so ill probably hit their parade
ill probably hit the parades on the northshare - where im staying with my uncle
and on mardis gras day ill prbably tag along with my uncle to his friends who always rent a room with a balcony and food and shit- thats in Uptown New Orleans
but
i think ill avoid Bourbob Street
