i spent about $50 on candles today.. tomorrow morning will be lovely; i will wake up and meditate with my new, fabulously-scented, reiki candles.

i learned the root of the verb "gyp" the hard way (the get-scarred way) this week; i'm a sucker, but whitney caught a much deeper gash. anyway, i believe it comes from the term "gypsy" [which i've found was a shortening of the label "egyptian" that the europeans used to refer to this group of romani people who allegedly (their roots remained undocumented until they migrated to europe. i'd assume that, at that point, the europeans began recording their observations about these people from their blindly hateful and slanted perspective... i'm having a hard time finding the information i want about the cultural history of the romani people.) originated in india; hence, "gypsy" is a pejorative term based on ignorant claims.]
whitney told me that she had read in a this psychic book about how "gypsies" originated from a man who supposedly prevented jesus christ from getting a 4th stake through the heart. thus, the descendents feel that they are somehow superior, and consequently, they desrve to encroach on other (non-romani) people. his point was that they are not to be trusted.
after sitting in front of this box trying to find some information, i've come to realize that was some of the most racist bullshit i've heard in awhile. i can't believe that fuck would publish some shit like that (and furthermore, i cannot believe that i wasn't inclined to attack it right away.)
first of all, i have not been able to find ANYTHING about the jesus story.
so, why would these people feel such a strong sense of entitlement if they didn't believe in this seemingly fictitious biblical tale?
one false premise = false conclusion. the theory wasn't really logically sound anyway... i mean, unless morals are transferred through bloodlines (which, upon assertion, i believe is absolutely illogical, but then again, i haven't given it a whole lot of thought... i'd be down to debate it.) or, at least, the romani people believe that it is... well, they could have some sort of holier-than-thou moral code, but, again, i've not been able to find anything about that online (actually, i just read that there is not any particular moral code or religious beliefs of roma... beliefs vary from one romani tribe to another, this is especially due to cultural assimilation. i find this to be the most credible site i've encountered thus far.) any informative sources would be welcomed and appreciated (i'm an ignorance nihilist. uh huh.)
based on other historical observations, i've come to see that opressed groups tend to turn to crime and acts of "immorality" in order to survive (go drive through one of your local ghettoes) in their opressive societies. i would hardly call this entitlement... i would, on the other hand, call it a responsive survival tactic. self-interested people with power have twisted the concepts involved in the theory of natural selection to suit their needs. now, our social acceptance of "survival of the fittest" is based on the premise that you do whatever you feel is necessary in order to get what you need/want, and it is unimportant who you hurt along the way. they also hold this insane double standard, wherein it is ok for them to act immorally, but when one of their 'bitches' does what they do, it's considered "sinful" and "immoral".
the romani people have a long history of opression. i'm not sure why they left india, or what the history of their lineage was prior to their arrival in europe, but i do know that once they hit europe, they were frowned upon; the europeans did not trust their ways of living, so they took opressive precautions in order to keep these crazy, untrustworthy folks in line.
wow... and i had intially allowed myself to believe that all "gypsies" were assholes (aside from the fucks that ripped us off...) i can be a real dimwit sometimes. at least i took the time to do a bit of research in order to revolutionize my mentality (more importantly, my inclination to accept the racially opressive standards that others pass down unto me.)
