Alright... Lots going on as usual.
Over the weekend was Nekocon!
It's a local Anime convention which myself and friends put on every year. We had ~5000 people show up!
Anyways, this was the first year which we decided to bring in bands.
The opening act was a band called Echostream who are AWESOME people and band.
The headlining act we brought in from Japan and is a sort of Goth electronica thing called GPKISM. They were also cool people, but much more reserved. The lead singer of GPKISM (GPK himself) was his first time in the US and his first Anime convention.
Anyways... so we decided we need to have a "Band Liaison" role within Guest Relations. Since I'm IN a band and sort of understand the whole ordeal I got nominated to do it. My friend who was supposed to come help ended up with an emergency that kept him from coming. This left me alone until mid Saturday when we finally pulled 2 people from elsewhere to help me out and keep me sane.
It's fuckin' tough work to manage two bands with completely different schedules. Getting them food, getting them to their show, sound checks, autograph signings, getting odds and ends that they want, taking them to see things (especially GPK since he'd never been to the states). It ran me ragged, but I had a blast!
As much as I enjoyed my time with GPKISM, I can't stress enough how awesome the people in Echostream are. We had a lot of fun during what little down time there was and I feel like I made some good friends in them.
Saturday we have a show with our local buddies Dieoxide. We've been trying to set something up with them since we met at the Battle of the Bands Finals back in July. They are really one of the best bands around here and we have mad respect for what they're doing.
Additionally Wrath of the Lich King comes out tomorrow night at midnight! I was lucky to get a Collector's Edition preordered this time around!! WOOOOT! I'll be sitting outside my local game shop from 8pm until midnight to secure my copy as soon as possible. After that... I expect to not sleep until the show Saturday. I'm leveling a Death Knight as my new main character, so I have to catch up to my guildies!
Top that off with the fact that Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, and Dead Space are in the apartment and need playing.. OH and Left 4 Dead releases this week... and I'm in video game overload.
On the movies front I saw Zak and Miri and thought it was pretty damn good. Laughs and Tits. How do you go wrong?! I want to see Rocknrolla, Sex Drive (ARGH NOT PLAYING ANYMORE), Role Models, and uhh... that's it that I can think of. Need more good Horror coming out ><
Uhhhh... I think that's it. I think... Perhaps more later? I don't know... so much shit going on!
