David, you took my advice right out of my mouth! Dali wasn't really appreciated for his surrealistic art until after his death. However, he was painting for him, not for anyone else. When he did make commissions, they were for portraits and other crap he didn't enjoy painting. Photograph what makes YOU happy and what inspires YOU! The rest will come in time. In my experience, there almost certainly a group of people that will enjoy your work, you've just gotta put it out there.

Went to a buncha car shit this weekend. Went out to Mojave for the Winfield car show, then over to Willow Springs to watch some vintage racing. That was Saturday. Today I went to the Concourse De Elegance held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Heck of a car weekend.
