Government shut down... pretty pissed off right now. I hope that things can get figured out because as an active duty Army soldier sitting here in Korea right now, its a pretty unsettling feeling that I'm far from home and its acceptable not to pay me for my work or even being here. I feel worse for my brothers and sisters that are in Iraq...

FWIW, the military still got paid during the government shutdowns back in the 90s. Still an ugly mess. I think we'll end up in another crisis and looming shutdown next Friday. All they did was delay things another week.

Yeah I remember, it shut down for 21 days and the service members ended up getting back pay. This whole thing is just a nightmare. l hate how because we are contracted that they think they can treat us this way.
I'm back to work which is a nice feeling. Don't get me wrong, I completely enjoyed having about a month off, but moving and getting settled seemed to drag on forever. I've been doing as much sight seeing as possible here in Korea. I've been a little limited due to a few circumstances, but I should be able to get past those soon and continue...

Korea is one place I have yet to PCS...knock on wood...between all the deployments I think it would be the final straw for my wife....another year away....I have heard the shopping there is crazy...the things available and the price being low. If you need anything back here in the states you can't get there....hit me up.

I like north fort. It seems a bit more laid back and the housing areas look nicer. If you haven't already, I highly recommend heading out the back gate and down to Steilacoom Pub for lunch or dinner. The sandwiches are amazing and the chilli is good too. Just the perfect thing on a dreary and rainy day.

6 days until I leave for Korea, how time flys. We are still settling into the house and getting Internet and cable has been the biggest pain in the ass so far. Other than that I couldn't be happier to be here and out of Kentucky!
