hi sgland !! on today's blog, I will talk about today, within my concepts and spirituality. 🌊🌊✨

commemorates the day of Iemanjá Protagonist of millions of legends, Iemanjá multiplies in several versions and changes according to the culture. It arrived in Brazil in colonial times, brought by slaves. In African lands she was the goddess of the Ogun River, queen of fresh waters. “Among us, she became the queen of the sea”, explains the anthropologist. Black hair, delicate features and full breasts synthesize in the beautiful divinity the archetype of motherhood. For that is its great value: welcoming everyone who asks for help, without judging or minimizing anyone's pain. This is worth another title, that of goddess of compassion, forgiveness and unconditional love.

A little of history….
The name Iemanjá means the mother of the fish-children. Daughter of Olokum, Iemanjá was married to Oduduá, with whom she had ten orixás children. By breastfeeding them, her breasts became huge. Unhappy with her marriage and tired of living in the city of Ifé, one day she went west and met King Okerê, with whom she fell in love. Ashamed of her breasts, Iemanjá asked the new husband to never ridicule her for that. He agreed. One day, however, he got drunk and began to offend his wife. Saddened, Iemanjá ran away.

Since she was a girl, she carried a pot with a potion that her father had given her in case of danger. During the escape, Iemanjá fell breaking the pot and the potion transformed it into a river whose bed went towards the sea. Okerê, who did not want to lose his wife, turned into a mountain to block the water course. Iemanjá asked his son Xangô for help and he, with lightning, broke the mountain in the middle. The river went to the ocean and, in this way, the orixá became the queen of the sea.

iemanjá already won several versions, in films, cartoons, even made her with white skin (a practice I would say racist) For historians, the entity's westernized image has its roots in the oppression of the enslaved black religions and has become massified with Umbanda syncretism. All the entities, symbols, forces that are worshiped, despite not having a human existence properly speaking, they have an origin, they have a history.

This image, which has an immense capillarization in the social fabric and denies an origin, is a very cruel thing, in a project of racism in which the western white pattern is placed as the beautiful. It seems silly to talk about aesthetics, but it is not, because in fact you are talking about self-esteem and without self-esteem you are nothing.

I would also like to comment on the film / animation of ponyo (Hayao Miyazaki)

Ponyo lives in the ocean but it is not a fish, it is something else. It looks like a fantastic being, like a mermaid. Strange-looking, it's just body, head and eyes. She lives with her many brothers, all identical but ironically smaller, making Ponyo a kind of "older sister", a position that allows her different attitudes, such as going for a walk near the human beaches, where there are inevitably her risks.

In addition to talking about friendship and love, Miyazaki criticizes the pollution of the seas, painting a frightening panorama of the sorry state of the oceans judged by the irresponsible action of men. As he retaliates, the artist shows the power of mother nature and what could happen if the force of water invaded our sacred land

the mother of ponyo is represented as a goddess of the sea, or refers me to our goddess iemanjá,it appears during the film and makes a big impression! Ponyo is a film to be seen several times, as like the other films of Studio Ghibli, each time you watch, you notice a new aspect, you discover a new message.

the message I wanted to leave in honor of that day, is: take care of our seas, he is alive and deserves his due respect, that would be a way to make our goddess happy, she does not need polluting offerings, flowers and energy they are more than enough. 🌊✨💙

have a great day !! kisses 💙
