A life in the day of...

Dont tell me I wasnt born for this Hip hop shit
I came out the same year as Rappers Delight did
12/30/79, I cant rewrite it
I dont really like the 80s so I came out quick
I was supposed to die when I was born thats what the doctor told my dad
So he had to choose; wife or son it mustve drove him mad
And, he chose his wife , it was a tough decision
so it was written in the book , Im supposed to be living
it goes Texas, Germany, V. A.
Right back to Texas, Florida now C. A.
I always lived my life like a rolling stone
Some times I didn't have a house but I never had a home
About three years ago I learned a lesson
I was my moms thirds son but only my dads second
but thats another story I dont want to get into
Its a story about the evil that men to do
At age ten I wrote my very first poems
I was so proud of them I decided to show em
One of them was about what would happen if my mom died
My mom cried and I couldnt understand why
So I never wrote again till I was about 16
Sometimes my intensity gets the best of me
sometimes these serious eyes hide the rest of me
but Im writing now, I guess it was my destiny
was I popular in High school? Yes and no
I was popular but I was the only Black kid though
Some of those people I hope I never see again
because I was more of a mascot than a friend
Moving to about 19, i became a whore
I gave everyone whatever they asked for
I gave my direction, protection, erections, corrections, connections
All in exchange for affection
everyone else made relationships look so easy
I be what you want me to be just please dont leave me.
Got my heart broken once or twice but it felt like for or five
Betrayed by a few friend but hey, Im still alive
but through it my heart remained cold
Which lead to a nervous break down at 21 years old
I cant blame it on anyone because the fact is
21 is too young to try to play Atlas
it seemed my whole life I was nothing but ignored
and the remainder of my life is directed by that void
I disappeared for a while nobody could fine me
Ran away to Florida with my past right behind me
But I learned a new trade and I moved out to Cali
Now I make a little money so I can live in the valley
So now I work two jobs and record shitty bands
and fake ass rappers that I know Im better than
Now I search all day to find the right word
i hope you know this is just the tip of the iceberg
Well i guess I better stop cause Im even starting to bore me
I pray to God this isnt the end of my....

Stay tuned. I cant wait to see how it ends either.

There are a couple ways to go about getting published. Your best bet when it comes to poetry is to publish in magazines and such first....because no publishing company wants to print a poetry book from an "unknown" artist. They don't want anything new; they want what's familiar and already popular.

Your OTHER option is to publish it yourself...there are many places that will help you with that...And then there's Lulu, which is an online self-publishing thingy. It's neat because you don't need anything approved or anything...you pay to have your stuff printed and bound, and it's done. If you want an ISBN, you can pay for that too. It's also up for OTHER people to purchase (you set the price and get the royalties). So if you marketed your stuff really well, using Lulu wouldn't be too bad an option. It's not as expensive as it sounds, honestly.
