the following is taken from an email I sent recently in response to a friends question about a personal dilemma
"...... But it is interesting that you bring up the "voice of god" telling you what you should do.
I have felt lost/pulled around because I'm uncertain as well. of course my position is a slight bit different as I already have a "career", if it can be called that, but I'm tired of it. it's draining me.
But, I need to be responsible, and do responsible things. unfortunately, those responible acts are what's keeping me from growing. Sure, I'm growing up, but I'm not growing on the inside, if that makes any sense.
and that's what it's really all about. If one only has to care about themseves, than they eventually become either a TITAN or die in the effort of trying. but the second you become linked to someone else's prosperity and future, you lose too much of yourself.

your chance to grow ends or becomes so retarded (retard used as a verb: to hinder ones development) that you only are able to advance through others, (others being the ones you've become responsible too) and that advancement is in such an infantismal amount, that it seems like you are standing still......"
