I should be in bed. I should be prepared for a meeting with someone that can greatly effect my income and my sense of financial security for at least the next 6 months.

But, I'm ready. I know where I've been and what I can get out of her.

Opportunity feels good.

veritas24:
Financial opportunity? I wished I had one of those this year. My bills are stacking up..... the life of the student, what else?!

Going back to our little game, which I must say that I am supremely enjoying: Nietzsche vs Plato.

On marriage was just an example and you can find the passage that I indicated in 'Thus spoke Zarathustra', third part, 'On old and new tablets' (24) and also in the first part 'On child and marriage'. As for Plato you can look up his idea of procreation in 'The laws', Book 8. The idea is that immortality exists because of the possibility of continuing ones existence in ones children. Therefore the act of procreation is an act of great love for oneself. One creates oneself but into the future and more enriching for the human race.

As for references that Nietzsche makes about Plato's theories they are often in opposition of course. He uses Platonic arguments in reverse so that he can deconstruct them and thus build his own foundations upon the ruins. Symbolisms, such as the cave, are extremely interesting and are often intertwined platonism and christian dogma. Thus the sun can stand for 'being conscience of truth', as well as, a stellar body without any powers but revered as a deity (to point out the naivite of human beings). Anyhow, for Nietzsche and symbolism I recommend any book by Laurence Lampert and for Plato I recommend a translation by Pangle. Enjoy.

Finally, let me solve the ambiguity of mixing Plato with Nietzsche and its product. It's about balance and harmony. It is asking dyonisus to dance for some moments hand in hand with apollo and then witnessing moments where dyonisus is the leader and others where apollo marks the tempo of the dance. This is me. I like being extreme (both dyonisian and apollonian) but balanced. Plus plato would never allow me to misinterpret Nietzsche like so many others do. To think that one can be 'Nietzschean' or that a nihilistic attitude is what makes you love this great philosopher is absolute absurdity. Nietzsche's philosophy is one where life gets affirmed, it is about yes! saying and having the courage to say: was this life? well then once more! Plato gives you this strenght, this self love and courage as well.

As for now,
Shiva
