Thanks... well, the Simpsons, being TV, would be up for Emmys, not Grammys, right? I guess music for a TV show gets nominated for Grammys, but I'd be judging/voting for that on the basis of the music itself, not just cause it was in a show I don't like much either. It has its moments here and there I guess, but overall, not my thing. What I've seen of it has been times when I was hanging out with other people who liked it and were watching it. Not my choice.
Honestly there are things about the Grammy structure that I have no idea about, especially as far as like, the awards that David (chief engineer at the studio I'm interning at) has won. He's got walls of certificates for albums that he mastered that won Grammys, and he's also won several of the actual awards himself. Has the statuettes in his mastering room at the studio, pretty darn cool!
Basically, I'm not sure what categories the engineers actually share in the award for, when the song/album wins it, and what ones the music just wins and it happens to be something that the engineer worked on, so that's still cool. I bet when I send in the app and become and official NARAS member, that somewhere in the rules that stuff will get explained!

You know, I just realized, you probably mean "no Grammy for the Simpsons" as in Jessica and Ashlee... which goes to show you how little I even regard them, musically, when the tv show comes to mind first even in this context!
No worries, I can't say I think those and their ilk are deserving of any kind of artistic validation whatsoever. Maybe their engineers and producers, since albums by charting pop artists are often very big-budget and well-recorded, from the audio standpoint. I can't say about those girls' albums in particular, as I haven't listened to them beyond unfortunately hearing a single or two played here or there. But as for the "artists" themselves, no, no, no. No Grammy votes from me, nope, nothing of the sort!

I resisted the cell phone thing till just recently, and I agree that many people use their phones many places they shouldn't. When I worked at places and people would come up to the counter, while still talking, and expect me to ring them up without their ever acknowledging me, like I wasn't even really there... THAT got me. I would usually stand and ignore them till they got off the phone. They would get all huffy and say to the person they were talking to "I'll be RIGHT back" in this indignant tone, and give me dirty looks. It was my sort of petty revenge, I guess. I like my phone now that I have it, but I really don't want to have to deal with the company. Like, look, I owe you X dollars a month, I will pay my bill, you just get it right and leave me alone!

I take it you mean staying up all night doing computer stuff instead of going to bed? Well, you could set it to automatically defragment or virus scan or something at 1:00am... that might kick you off, or at least remind you what time it is!
I know what you mean though. Even when I don't have anything particular to do on the computer, I can waste piles of time surfing around and so on. Moreso than ever now that I'm on this site! Groups, boards, photosets, oh yeah, can I lose hours! I run myself on way too little sleep anyway when I'm doing stuff I'm into.
Hey thanks for more gun comments and advice on my post. The 1911 wasn't anything like as smooth as the 9mm's I was shooting last time, but I don't have the experience yet to know if that's a characteristic of the larger caliber in general, or just that particular gun. As I said, it fit my hand fine and was comfortable for 50 rounds, but I could tell it would rub a blister if I did a lot with it, so it's not exactly the ideal gun for me. But it's nice to know that a .45 isn't too much for me, just for that little bit of "macho" that I still manage to have in me, girl or no.
The range actually has a Glock .40 that I'm sure I'll try one of these days. I haven't fired a Glock yet, becaue the Glock 9mm was already rented the other week when I methodically tried all of their 9mm rentals! So I don't have any idea if I get along with Glocks or not. I'm still in that process of trying any and every gun I can, to develop my own set of experiences and opinions about them.
Meanwhile I'm just bemoaning the fact that I only get to go once a week, and that ammo is expensive and limits how much I can do at once!

Well, it was pretty easy for me to go for the Paul McCartney tickets being as he is such a particular favorite of my mom's. Not exactly something random I came up with or anything.
If your mom likes music, I think you can sign up for a weekly ticket alert with Ticketmaster, and then you'd know what was coming up, to maybe get her tickets for a cool show.

Hey, it's all good. I have no problem being approached/talked to by people as long as they are polite. It was nice talking with you, and I'm glad you were able to get your profile picture up. Meanwhile, I'm sure if you talk with a few people/look through journals and so on, you will have more friends soon.

So you really do fix trains, I'm gathering. That's not a job you hear people mention every day! What kind of trains? Not that I know anything about trains anyway. It's really cool that you can say you love your job, though. That's a pretty major accomplishment in life, to be paying the bills doing something you really enjoy.

Those Japanese girls were pretty cool, huh? I listen to a lot of Japanese bands, spend lots of my (not large) income on import CD's. I was having fun hearing a few Japanese words that I understood in that band's songs and when they talked in between. When the band members were selling merch before their set, I wanted to go up and try to ask a couple of simple questions in my small Japanese vocabulary, but I was too chicken! Oh well.
